WWE Raw Summary and Highlights
Liv Morgan – Iyo Sky
Corey Graves was filling in for Pat McAfee tonight alongside Michael Cole as Liv Morgan appeared alongside Dominik Mysterio. The promotion recapped last week’s segment between Liv and Nikki Bella as Morgan picked up the mic, welcoming the Green Bay crowd to ‘Monday Night Morgan’ before hyping up Dirty Dom.
Dominik stated that the night was not about him but about Liv, though the crowd drowned him in boos. Morgan continued, saying it was her division and that everyone had to talk about her when they talked about the division. She went off on Nikki Bella, mocking her segment with Iyo Sky from the previous week.
Liv detailed how she paved her own way to become the history-making four-time Women’s Tag Team Champion, calling herself the greatest Women’s Tag Champion of all time. She said she wasn’t asking for respect, she was demanding it.
Morgan demanded a rematch for the Women’s World Championship, calling out Iyo. The Champion appeared, stepped into the ring, and grabbed a mic as the Green Bay crowd erupted in “IYO” chants. The World Champion told Liv to shut her mouth and said she had disrespected both her and Nikki Bella, and if Liv wanted a fight, she was right there.
Morgan stated she only wanted to fight her for the title and reminded her how she had already defeated her. Iyo fired back, stating that if Liv wanted a shot, she would have to earn it—she couldn’t just steal it “like she stole Dirty Dom.”
Dirty Dom tried to make a case for Liv, but the crowd once again drowned him in boos. Liv asked Iyo to hand over the title again. Iyo agreed, then threw the title before taking out Liv with a dropkick and landing a shot on Dirty Dom as well. The two retreated while Iyo stood tall, flaunting the title.
Grade: C+
Asuka vs Ivy Nile vs Raquel Rodriguez vs Stephanie Vaquer – Fatal Four-way match for the Queen of the Ring Tournament
In the first match of the show, Asuka made her return as announced and battled in her first match in 408 days. Vaquer impressed again with her performance, while the four women had their moments, it was Raquel Rodriguez who landed the tahana bomb on Vaquer but Rhea Ripley came in to pay back the favor from her QOTR match where Raquel interfered.
Ripley took out Rodriguez with a riptide ringside as Asuka capitalized, taking her out with the empress impact to pick the win and advance into the semi-finals. She will now battle Alexa Bliss in the semi-finals this Friday on SmackDown.
Winner: Asuka
Grade: B
Observations:
- WWE spoiled Asuka’s return and should have kept it a secret.
- It seems like the feud between Rhea Ripley and the Judgement Day has been revived.
Backstage
In the Judgment Day locker room, Liv entered, asking Raquel to talk strategy. Rodriguez replied that she wasn’t cleared to do anything else tonight, and Liv stormed off in frustration. Dominik tried to go after Liv, but McDonagh stopped him, reminding him to focus on helping Finn and him with their tag title goal. Dirty Dom responded that he already had AJ Styles breathing down his neck and reminded Finn that he should’ve taken care of Styles by now.
Mysterio promised that next week it’ll be about the tag titles, but tonight Finn should hang back. Balor replied that he would stay back and that Dominik should watch JD’s back. Balor then sat down next to her and told her not to take what Liv said too personally. He stood up and walked out to discuss an idea with Roxanne Perez.
Grade: C+
Gunther – Goldberg
The Ring General flaunted the title as fireworks went off near the entrance ramp, and the celebration continued as Gunther picked up the mic, stating that at WrestleMania, the crowd erupted in boos. He admitted that Jey Uso had been the better man, but only for one night, as he remained untouchable every other night.
Gunther then mentioned hearing chatter about his next opponent, as the crowd erupted in “Goldberg” chants. The Champion clarified that it wasn’t him, but instead, Mr. Money in the Bank, Seth Rollins.
Gunther spoke directly into the camera, addressing Rollins, telling him that if he was the target, not to waste any time. But before he could continue, here came Goldberg, who stepped into the ring, stating that tonight he was there to celebrate Gunther’s title victory. The Hall of Famer congratulated Gunther before reminding him of what he started in Atlanta, Georgia, with his family, berating them in his hometown.
“A few months ago, you started something with me and my family… And I am going to make sure that I end it in Atlanta, Georgia. July 12th, Saturday Night Main Event, YOU’RE MINE… BECAUSE YOU’RE NEXT!”
Goldberg declared that he would end it in Atlanta, Georgia, and then announced that at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta on July 12, he would battle Gunther. The promotion quickly made the match official for SNME next month.
Grade: C+
AJ Styles vs JD McDonagh
In the second match of the show, AJ Styles battled JD McDonagh in a singles clash while Dominik Mysterio was ringside, keeping a close eye on the action. McDonagh put out great offense but failed to pin the veteran as Mysterio intervened. McDonagh failed to capitalize as Styles landed the Styles clash to pick up the win.
After the match, Dominik attempted to attack Styles, but Styles countered with a Pele kick and thwarted another attack, setting up for the Phenomenal Forearm. Finn Balor rushed in, pulling Mysterio out of the ring just as Styles grabbed the title, flaunting it to the crowd.
Balor, Dominik, and McDonagh surrounded the ring, but Styles stepped out and made his escape as the Judgment Day moved in to attack.
Winner: AJ Styles
Grade: B
Observations:
- Styles and McDonagh had good chemistry despite this being their first singles match.
- This was a great build-up for the Styles-Dominik clash.
- WWE went back to using AJ’s old theme song.
Bayley – Becky Lynch
Bayley stepped into the ring, stating that she felt incredible to be back. She then mentioned that she doesn’t take anything for granted. Every time she gets the opportunity to be in front of the fans, she revels in it because it’s one of the most important things to her.
She recapped how she was robbed of a WrestleMania match, a chance to fight for the Women’s Tag Titles, but emphasized that she doesn’t come here just for one night, or just for Mania. Bayley then called out Becky Lynch, stating that Becky taking her out in a backstage attack at Mania only made her stronger. She admitted that Becky being two steps ahead ate at her, but now she’s climbing the ladder and fighting back.
She called out Lynch as the Women’s Intercontinental Champion appeared, flaunting the title. Lynch wore a Chicago Bears jersey, and the crowd erupted in “They still suck” chants. Becky fired back, reminding them that the Bears had defeated their team last time.
Lynch then shot back at Bayley, saying she had always preferred her legacy over friendships. Bayley questioned her legacy, stating that she didn’t have a problem uplifting the locker room. Lynch reminded Bayley that nobody cared she wasn’t at Mania, and they were cheering for her. Bayley pointed out how insecure Lynch was about the crowd’s reaction.
Bayley asked if Lynch remembered how they had to fight for everything, or was her head too far up her a**? Lynch responded that she didn’t remember before asking Bayley what gold felt like. Bayley shot back, asking Lynch the same question.
Lynch declared that Bayley wouldn’t get a title shot tonight, ending the segment by stating she’d see her in Columbus. As Lynch tried to take a cheap shot, Bayley fired back with a heavy jab, knocking Lynch down, before she retreated out of the ring.
Grade: C
Observations:
- Becky has improved her persona as a heel and sounds more comfortable in her character
Backstage
Nick Aldis was backstage when AJ Styles entered, handing him the Intercontinental Title. Aldis thanked him for returning the title, then the GM announced that Styles would battle Dominik for the Intercontinental Title at Night of Champions.
Bayley then appeared, and Aldis stated that while the match had been made official, it was only valid if Becky got her title shot, considering she took the opportunity from Bayley. Aldis then announced that Bayley would face Becky for the Women’s Intercontinental Title next week.
Aldis left the scene as Lyra Valkyria approached, congratulating Bayley. Bayley tried to make her case but quickly apologized for not replying to Valkyria’s calls or texts. Valkyria, though happy for Bayley, sent a warning: if she wins the title, she will come for her.
Grade: B
Liv Morgan vs Kairi Sane
One-half of the Women’s Tag Team Champions, Liv Morgan, battled Kairi Sane in a singles match. However, the match ended as soon as it began, as during a spot where Sane landed a takedown, but Liv landed awkwardly, causing her injury as she rolled out of the ring, struggling in pain.
Medical personnel checked up on Liv, and she was unable to continue the match, which meant Kairi Sane won by referee decision. Morgan was taken backstage as Sane celebrated the win. Michael Cole shortly announced that Liv has suffered a dislocated shoulder and WWE will provide further updates as soon as possible.
Winner: Kairi Sane
Comments: We wish Liv Morgan a speedy recovery. She’s been an absolute workhorse for the company since last year and truly deserves all the support and love.
Backstage
Cathy Kelley spoke to Sami Zayn, asking him about his semi-finals clash against Randy Orton this week on SmackDown. Zayn stated that it felt different this time. Karrion Kross then stepped in, continuing his mind games. Kross claimed that Zayn would lose to Orton, who would become a 15-time World Champion, while Sami would remain at zero.
Zayn responded, suggesting that maybe Kross was lurking backstage because he didn’t have the courage to face him. Sami then emphasized that his priority was King of the Ring, and the second he was done, he would ask Adam Pearce for a match against Kross.
Grade: B+
Observations:
- WWE needs to push Karrion Kross and feature him in more than just backstage segments.
- Kross and Sami delivered another great segment, creating more drama for their eventual collision (probably).
Rusev vs Sheamus vs Bronson Reed vs Jey Uso – Fatal Four-way match for the King of the Ring Tournament
Rusev, Sheamus, Bronson Reed, and Jey Uso battled in the final opening match of the King of the Ring tournament. As expected, the four titans put on an amazing match in the main event, and with Liv’s injury, there was likely a lot of time left, which was utilized for this match.
The match also saw the face-off and battle between Rusev and Sheamus, but the match picked up pace as Bron Breakker appeared, pushing Jey off the top rope, which forced Sami Zayn to come in and attack Breakker. Zayn was sent crashing over the barricade, which then brought out Penta, who took Breakker out with a suicide dive through the ropes.
Reed delivered a Death Valley Driver on Jey as he climbed the ropes to capitalize, but LA Knight came out, sending him crashing to the mat and returning the favor. Jey quickly took advantage with a superkick, then a Spear, and finally two Uso Splashes to pick up the win and advance into the semi-finals.
After the match, Seth Rollins appeared visibly irked while Jey struggled to get up, Rollins stepped into the ring. But here came Cody Rhodes, darting into the ring to come face-to-face with Rollins. Seth, fuming with anger, glared at Cody, who braced for a brawl. The crowd erupted in anticipation, but Seth simply walked away, exiting the ring as boos filled the arena.
“Cody! Cody Rhodes!” chants rang out as Jey Uso got back to his feet. Meanwhile, Paul Heyman continued to strategize with Rollins. Reed and Breakker joined him, and they all retreated backstage. Jey and Cody stood off, now set to collide in the semi-finals next week. The two stars shared a brief embrace, and with that, Monday Night Raw came to an end!
Winner: Jey Uso
Grade: B+
Observations:
- It seems like WWE is going in the direction of a feud between Seth Rollins & LA Knight.
- Sheamus once again provided a banger performance.
- CM Punk aiding Jey Uso against Seth would have made much more sense.
