WWE Raw Summary and Highlights

Jey Uso – Paul Heyman

Jey picked up the mic and called out Logan Paul, but Paul Heyman appeared instead, drawing heavy boos from the crowd. Heyman clarified that he wasn’t there to disrespect the World Heavyweight Champion, but because he had something to say to him.

Jey fired back, saying Heyman had a lot of nerve showing up after what he did to his family. Heyman responded by questioning whether Jey was really the one to talk about betrayal. Jey stated that he had seen through Heyman all along and tried to warn both Roman Reigns and CM Punk. Heyman claimed Punk had sabotaged his relationship with Reigns.

Heyman then referred to Reigns as the chants of “OTC” rang out, and reminded everyone that he was the one who built The Bloodline. He emphasized that he pulled Roman out of the “island of irrelevancy” and made him a 1,316-day champion only to be abandoned after Reigns lost the title, the same title Paul had worked years to protect. Heyman said Reigns left him to fend for himself against Solo Sikoa.

The Wiseman then reminded Jey that Reigns didn’t return for him, but to reclaim the Ula Fala. Heyman grew emotional and defensive, yelling that despite all he had done, Jey and the fans still blamed him. “As*hole” chants echoed through the arena as Jey sarcastically asked if Heyman was okay.

Jey then asked what any of this had to do with him. Heyman apologized, stating he came out to talk about Jey. He explained that the title Jey won was about control and power, something Jey didn’t yet understand. Heyman continued, revealing that while Jey needed to be the Champion, Seth Rollins had to be the Champion. He announced that stage two of their plan involved the title.

The Wiseman revealed that Seth Rollins was challenging Jey for the World Heavyweight Championship, reminding everyone that Rollins was the number one contender after defeating both Roman Reigns and CM Punk.

Heyman declared that Rollins would fight Jey for the title anytime and anywhere, and as he turned to leave, Jey interrupted. The Champion accepted the challenge, and a possible title match loomed as fans awaited an official announcement from General Manager Adam Pearce, which came later in the show.

Backstage

Paul Heyman walked into the locker room and met with Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker. He told them that Jey Uso had fallen for it, revealing that Jey had agreed to the title match for that night. Rollins laughed and, with a smirk, told Heyman, “I told you so,” before walking off. Heyman and Breakker remained as their conversation continued.

Heyman asked Breakker if he could believe it, recapping the fallout from WrestleMania 41. He spoke about how big the opportunity was, noting that while Jey Uso was a great champion, he was distracted by Logan Paul and unprepared for Seth Rollins.

Heyman added that tonight, they would be handed the key to the kingdom when Rollins wins the World Heavyweight Title. Shortly after, Michael Cole announced that General Manager Adam Pearce had officially confirmed the title match between Jey Uso and Seth Rollins.

Penta vs JD McDonagh

In the first match of the show, Penta battled Judgment Day’s JD McDonagh, who was accompanied by Finn Balor and Carlito. The two stars put on a show with high-flying moves but as expected Penta had to fight on two fronts and Carlito and Balor caused multiple distractions.

However, the official caught Balor as the match continued and sent both Finn and Carlito from the ringside as Penta looked for the finish, Chad Gable appeared to exact his revenge for last week. Gable held onto Penta by the leg, but Penta shook him off and launched himself into Gable with a suicide dive. As Penta recovered, JD tried to capitalize with a moonsault, but Penta countered with a Mexican Destroyer to win.

Backstage

Adam Pearce was shown with Grayson Waller, who was in the middle of an argument about his upcoming match. Austin Theory walked in, saying he had been looking for Waller. Waller then admitted he didn’t actually want the singles match, calling himself selfish, and floated the idea of giving the match to his tag team partner instead. He asked Pearce to hand the match over to Theory.

The GM approved and made the match official. Theory, surprised, asked who the opponent was. Waller refused to reveal it, smirking and saying it was a surprise.

Behind the crowd stands during the break, Cathy Kelley interviewed Karrion Kross and Scarlett. Kelley asked Kross about Sami Zayn refusing Seth Rollins’ offer, despite Kross advising him otherwise.

Kross responded by saying Zayn was burdened by guilt from his time during the reign of the original Bloodline. He then asked the crowd if they thought Zayn made the right call, getting a mixed reaction. Kross followed up by stating that Zayn chose “the devil he knows over the devil he doesn’t.”

He turned the question on Cathy, asking if she would have joined Seth Rollins’ faction. Kelley replied that Rollins had asked Zayn, not her. Kross accused her of copping out as the segment ended.

Sheamus vs Austin Theory

As announced, Theory stepped into he ring for a singles match, and his opponent turned out to be a returning Sheamus as Theory felt betrayed by Waller. Despite an early flurry and some control of the match by Waller, the Celtic Warrior triumphed, landing the brouge kick to pick up the win in his return.

Backstage

Inside Judgment Day’s clubhouse, JD McDonagh walked in and immediately questioned what had happened, asking where Chad Gable came from and if Finn Balor had anything to do with it. Dominik Mysterio chimed in, assuring the group that he would handle the situation, especially now that he’s set to defend the Intercontinental Championship against Penta at Backlash.

Moments later, AJ Styles entered the room, prompting Carlito and Mysterio to question how he found them. Styles casually revealed that R-Truth had told him exactly where the Judgment Day clubhouse was located. Styles then gave Dominik a friendly warning, stating that no matter who walks out of Backlash with the title, he’s coming for the Intercontinental Championship.

As Styles exited, Mysterio noted that with his new responsibilities as Champion, he already had his hands full. He then asked Balor to take care of Styles, referencing their shared history. Balor fired back, asking if he now had to clean up Mysterio’s mess. After a brief pause, he laughed and reassured Mysterio that he was only messing with him and that he’d take care of Styles.

Becky Lynch – Lyra Valkyria

Becky Lynch stepped into the ring, clearly irked by the boos from the crowd. She claimed to be the real victim, recapping how everyone cheered for her at WrestleMania while no one cared about Bayley, whom she called “garbage” and said she simply took out the trash.

She went off on Lyra Valkyria, also calling her “garbage” and saying that Valkyria wouldn’t have even had a dream if it weren’t for her. Valkyria interrupted and she marched to the ring, firing back by making it clear that Becky had no role in her success. She stated firmly, “You didn’t make me.”

Lyra reminded Lynch that while Becky was away on holiday, she made history by winning the title. She continued, calling out Lynch for abandoning others and making it clear that Becky helps no one. Lynch fired back, declaring herself “the greatest to ever do it.”

Lynch claimed Valkyria would only be the moment after the moment. Lyra acknowledged Becky’s accomplishments but pointed out she was the first-ever Women’s Intercontinental Champion. Lynch attempted a cheap shot, but Valkyria saw it coming, and a brawl broke out.

The fight spilled to the ringside as security and officials rushed in to break them apart, managing to create some distance. As Lynch stepped back into the ring, she shouted that this was the kind of disrespect she had been talking about but Lyra wasn’t finished.

Breaking free, she darted back into the ring and reignited the fight. Lynch went for the Manhandle Slam, but Valkyria countered and landed the Nightwing, standing tall as chaos unfolded around them.

Iyo Sky vs Roxanne Perez

Women’s World Champion Iyo Sky took on Roxanne Perez, who cut a promo ahead of the match, stating how she put the entire division on notice since her arrival. The match as expected, delivered with Perex targeting Sky’s leg, battering it to gain an advantage, but the Champion fought through pain and refused to give up.

In the final moments of the match, after two close roll-up attempts, the two exchanged several more near falls. As the referee is hammering down on the mat, Sky managed to roll up Perez for another pin, this time successfully scoring the win.

After the match, Perez extended a handshake to the champion as a sign of respect. Sky accepted it, and Perez exited the ring.

As Sky took a moment to acknowledge Perez’s effort, Giulia suddenly ambushed her from behind. Perez, now smirking, turned back and joined the assault. Together, Giulia and Perez unleashed a brutal attack on the champion. Giulia held Sky in place as Perez delivered two vicious kicks, leaving the champion laid out.

Rusev vs Otis

The two giants collided in the co-main event of the show, this was Rusev’s first WWE match in five years. While Otis showed a glimpse of toughness, Rusev soon broke him down, locking in the iconic accolade, which made Otis tap, with Rusev securing his first win to start his second run.

Akira Tozawa stepped in after the match and challenged Rusev to a fight on the spot. However, Rusev backed away, signaling that he didn’t want any part of it, and made his way up the ramp. As Tozawa and Maxxine checked on Otis, Rusev suddenly returned and ambushed Tozawa, slamming him directly onto Otis.

He continued the assault, driving Otis into the ring post before landing a vicious kick and locking in the Accolade once again. General Manager Adam Pearce and officials rushed to the ring in an attempt to break the hold and assist Otis. Natalya also appeared at ringside to console Maxxine Dupri.

Gunther – Pat McAfee face-off

General Manager Adam Pearce introduced both Pat McAfee and Gunther and asked them to keep things civil as he is fed up with the constant chaos today. Pat McAfee was flaunting his usual energy when Gunther declared that he wasn’t going to do anything tonight. However, the arena erupted with “You tapped out” chants, clearly irking Gunther. He fired back, stating that he’d deal with Jey Uso after this.

McAfee then grabbed the mic, turning his attention to Michael Cole, calling him a “walking, talking G.O.A.T.” The crowd responded with “Michael Cole” chants, and McAfee continued, praising Cole’s right to express his opinion while sharing his own. McAfee took a moment to celebrate Omaha, Nebraska, and all the city had to offer, including its rich sports legacy.

He then shifted focus to Gunther, claiming that while Gunther had been a champion for the majority of his WWE career, wrestling had stopped being a dream for him and had become just a job. McAfee argued that, unlike Gunther, wrestling still felt like a dream for him.

Pat further claimed that Gunther had grown complacent and comfortable, and that he would prove on Saturday that this version of Gunther was “SOFT.” Gunther, now visibly annoyed, picked up the mic as boos rained down from the crowd.

The Ring General asked McAfee if he had enjoyed his daughter’s recent birthday, a special moment that was now overshadowed by Backlash, which Gunther promised would be a special day for him. Gunther warned McAfee not to worry, stating that he had McAfee’s full attention for now. But come Saturday, he ominously declared that only the grace of God could lift his arm off McAfee’s throat.

Jey Uso (c) vs Seth Rollins – WWE World Heavyweight Championship match

In the main event of the show, World Heavyweight Champion Jey Uso defended the title for the first time against ‘The Visionary’ Seth Rollins, who was accompanied by Paul Heyman and Bron Breakker. The two stars are showcasing their dynamic, putting on an instant classic with fans chanting “This is Awesome” constantly.

On multiple occasions, the match felt like it has ended, but both stars refused to quit despite severe damage and kicked out in time. Sami Zayn also made an appearance during the match, ambushing Breakker as Jey capitalized on the opportunity to land a spear, followed by a frog splash from the top rope, but Rollins still kicked out at two.

Breakker then fired back, taking out Zayn with a vicious spear, and as Rollins and Heyman distracted the official, Breakker landed another spear on Jey as he was checking on Zayn. Rollins then landed a vicious stomp and went for the cover, but suddenly, CM Punk’s music hit, as he made his return with a steel chair in hand.

Punk immediately took down Breakker with the chair and stepped into the ring, where he unloaded on Rollins, battering him with the steel chair. As Breakker tried to intervene again, Punk struck him down as well, sending both Rollins and Breakker retreating to the outside. Punk and Sami Zayn stood tall in the ring, while Jey addressed his injuries, as the show came to a close.
