Roman Reigns began by asking the OKC fans to acknowledge him. Before he could continue, Cody Rhodes appeared. Rhodes picked up the mic, still wearing damage from last week’s attack by Drew McIntyre. Rhodes stated that Roman had been a man of his word, and that last time, his word was for a match, but this time it was for war.

Rhodes asked what Roman had to gain from this, and Reigns laughed before saying that, last he checked, he had already been in this war; Cody was only now joining it. Roman acknowledged that the two didn’t like or even know each other, but there was one thing they did know: neither of them played around when it came to their families.

Roman pointed out that his family made up half of the team, that he had invested in the Usos for a long time, and that he was here to see that investment through. Cody welcomed Reigns to his team and moved in for a handshake as CM Punk’s music hit and the Second City Saint appeared. Punk greeted the crowd and asked them to acknowledge him.

Punk stated that while Cody had Roman’s word, he didn’t need it. He reminded them how he had saved Roman’s life at last year’s WarGames. Roman fired back, reminding Punk how he had ruined it a few months later. Punk kept questioning his intentions as Cody insisted they were all on the same page.

Punk then asked Cody how he could call it his team, reminding him that this wasn’t SmackDown or USA Network; this was Raw, and he is the Champion. “This isn’t Smackdown, this isn’t USA Network. This is RAW, this is Netflix. You can be the Quarterback on Friday, but here, I’m the champ.”

Reigns said he didn’t care whose team it was, and while he didn’t like either of them, he hated Paul Heyman and Vision even more. That, he said, was his word and his promise. Reigns then looked at Punk and remarked that the title would look much better on his shoulder. As he moved to leave, Punk asked if Roman was talking to him or to Cody. Reigns simply looked at the camera and laughed, saying it was for them to figure out.

Grade: B

Moments & Insights:

  • The segment addressed the tensions between the three big names, while hyping up the upcoming WarGames match. Roman teasing another title pursuit has also raised eyebrows.
  • Backstage, Paul Heyman told Drew that he was only there despite the suspension because Paul had placed him in the advantage match, and that he was required to compete. Logan then revealed that his partner would be Brock Lesnar. Paul warned him that Brock wasn’t pleased about what happened last week and is looking for Roman. He advised Logan to stop mentioning Brock’s name altogether. Logan responded by saying that Bron would be Drew’s partner. Paul corrected him, adding that it wasn’t Bronson Reed either. Finally, Paul figured out that he would be teaming with Drew. Logan smirked and said it was a wise choice.

Gunther vs Carmelo Hayes (The Last Time Is Now Tournament Quarterfinals)

In the first quarterfinals of the tournament to decide John Cena’s final opponent, Gunther took on Carmelo Hayes. Despite many counting Hayes out, the Boston native held his own against the Ring General and was inching very close to victory. However, Gunther controlled the majority of the match and delivered two back-to-back powerbombs to pin Hayes and advance in the tournament.

Winner: Gunther

Grade: B+

Match Insights & Backstage Moments:

  • The outcome was very predictable, but Carmelo held his own, delivering an amazing performance. Not to mention, another masterclass by Gunther, who let Hayes shine.
  • Backstage, CM Punk, Roman Reigns, and Cody Rhodes were talking when the Usos walked in. Jey commented that they looked like one big happy family, but pointed out that they were discussing everything except what mattered. He reminded them that the winners of the upcoming match would earn the advantage. He said that the Usos were already united, which meant the three of them weren’t. Jey insisted they let the actual tag team go out and secure the advantage. The Usos then walked off as Roman turned to Cody and Punk and told them to fix this.

John ‘Wena’ confronts Dominik Mysterio

Dominik Mysterio stated that in a couple of days, he was going to put an end to John Cena’s retirement tour, all while the crowd continued to boo him. Mysterio lashed out at the crowd in Spanish and went on to say that on Saturday, he would embarrass John in his hometown and reclaim his Intercontinental Championship.

Dom claimed that at the PLE, he would continue to be the Greatest Mysterio of all time. He reminded the city that John wasn’t there, and no matter how loudly they cheered, he wasn’t going to appear in “this dump.” Just then, John Cena’s music hit, sending the crowd into a frenzy, but instead, a tiny man dressed like Cena appeared, high-fiving fans on his way down the ramp.

‘John Wena’, as Wade Barrett called him, even had his own tiny cameraman, Stu. Tiny Cena entered the ring as Dominik, trying to hold back laughter, warned him that he had no idea what was coming at Survivor Series. Tiny Cena called him the “Worst Mysterio of all time,” while Dirty Dom tried to remind him that this wasn’t part of the plan.

Tiny Cena then delivered the classic lines “If you want some, come get some,” and “The Champ is here!” before Dom cut him off with a huge kick, followed by his own version of the Five Knuckle Shuffle. Dirty Dom then positioned him for a 619 and climbed to the top rope for a Frog Splash.

Rey Mysterio appeared, saving John Wena from further damage, prompting Dirty Dom to retreat as JD McDonagh made his entrance with Finn Balor by his side.

Grade: B

Insights & Backstage Moments:

  • The segment tried to pay homage to the 2003 spoof of Kurt Angle as John Cena before their No Mercy clash, and while the idea, complete with tiny cameraman Stu, was solid, it could have been far more impactful with a little more time.
  • Cena will defend the title against Dominik in his final PLE appearance this Saturday.

Rey Mysterio vs JD McDonagh

Following his return, Rey Mysterio reignited his feud with Dominik and his faction, The Judgment Day. In continuation, Rey took on Judgment Day’s JD McDonagh in a singles match. McDonagh, with multiple interference, time-to-time, Balor took control of the match.

However, in the final moments, Mysterio set up JD for another 619, but Balor tripped him. Rey pushed off Balor as he stood on the apron. JD moved to attack Rey, who tripped him on the ropes, causing JD to crash into Balor and send him flying. Rey capitalized, delivering the 619, followed by a springboard splash to pin McDonagh.

Winner: Rey Mysterio

Grade: C

Match Insights & Backstage Moments:

  • The match began during the commercials, and another commercial killed its momentum. Nevertheless, Rey secured his first singles win since his return.
  • After the match, Balor tried to get some payback, but Mysterio wisely escaped.
  • Backstage, Raquel Rodriguez asked GM Adam Pearce why Nikki Bella was getting a title match. Pearce reassured her that she was still in line for a future opportunity and that everything was fine. The New Day then entered, with Xavier Woods saying he wished he could be happy to be there, but Pearce had ruined everything. Pearce explained that AJ Styles and Dragon Lee wanted to put the titles on the line against the New Day next week. Grayson Waller then placed a wig on Pearce’s head, prompting Pearce to lose his calm and shout at him to get out.
  • A backstage shot of Brock Lesnar arriving in the arena and being greeted by Paul Heyman was shown.

Women’s WarGames build

Becky Lynch, Nia Jax, Lash Legend, and The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane) made their way to the ring as Lynch picked up the mic. Lynch stated that she could hear the fans’ dissatisfaction over the injustice she faced last week and informed them that she had the best lawyers in the country, who had advised her not to discuss it. She added that the decision would be overturned and she would reclaim her title.

She then mentioned AJ Lee, saying that Lee had made a mistake by returning, but the biggest mistake she would make was stepping into the cage with her. Lynch hyped up her team, stating that she had assembled the best group. She acknowledged that while she and Asuka had their differences, and she had beaten her nine out of ten times, they were now on the same page.

She reminded Kairi Sane how she had saved her life and mentioned Nia Jax, saying that while she was more powerful than Nia, Jax had broken her face, but she never wore a mask (hinting at Ripley). Lynch then introduced her new ally, Lash Legend, before taking a shot at Charlotte Flair, just as Rhea Ripley interrupted and made her entrance.

Iyo Sky walked out next, followed by Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, and AJ Lee. The babyfaces, led by Lee, made their way toward the ring. Lee stated that the old AJ would have torn Becky’s pretty little face apart, but luckily for her, therapy worked. She added that Becky was insecure and scared. Lee explained that, unlike an angry little chihuahua, she doesn’t bark; she bites.

Lee reiterated that Lynch had lit a fire in her, and her teammates had poured gasoline on it. She stated that inside the cage, she could do whatever she wanted and that she wasn’t the only one looking to knock Becky off her pedestal. She then handed the mic to Rhea Ripley.

Ripley immediately attacked Nia with the mic, sparking a brawl. Lash Legend began to manhandle Iyo, while Lee and Lynch continued fighting in the corner. Legend then attacked Ripley, while Flair and Bliss targeted the Kabuki Warriors. Nia and Legend started to overpower Flair as Bliss and AJ locked in a sleeper hold from behind.

Legend and Nia broke the hold as Rhea and Flair delivered big boots, sending them outside. Iyo took everyone down with a moonsault, sparing only Becky, who escaped. The babyfaces stood tall as Becky continued to mouth off, and the segment ended.

Grade: B

Insights & Backstage Moments:

  • Becky did acknowledge her history with Nia Jax and Asuka, similar to what Ripley and Charlotte did, which is a good Creative decision.
  • The babyfaces standing tall, and even winning the WarGames advantage match, likely means Becky & Co. are picking up the win in San Diego.

Solo Sikoa vs Penta (The Last Time Is Now Tournament Quarterfinals)

In the second quarterfinal match of the tournament, Solo Sikoa, along with Talla Tonga, arrived to battle Penta. The action quickly spilled ringside, with Sikoa sending Penta over the barricade. Just before the commercials, Penta delivered a head scissors off the ringside barrier. However, it seemed like he had hurt his left shoulder as medical staff rushed in to check on him.

Back from commercials, the official called for the bell, and Alicia Taylor announced that Penta is unable to compete, and Solo Sikoa was announced the winner of the second quarterfinal match.

Winner: Solo Sikoa via Doctor Stoppage

Match Insights & Backstage Moments:

  • Penta was likely set to win the match, but the unfortunate injury now means Gunther will take on Solo in the semi-finals. Let’s just hope that it’s not anything serious and Penta makes a quick return.
  • GM Adam Pearce and Maxxine Dupri were backstage, as Pearce noted that so many people had called to challenge Maxxine for her title. Maxxine said it proved that all of her hard work had paid off and added that she needed to prove herself, mentioning that she planned to call Natalya. Ivy Nile interrupted, claiming that the title already belonged to her.
  • As Nile left, Roxanne Perez then came in alongside Raquel Rodriguez and congratulated Maxxine on winning, but warned that she could take it all away. Pearce then stepped in and asked if there was a problem. Perez said while Raquel had had a chat, she hadn’t spoken to Adam, and Adam explained that he needed to talk to his champion as Perez and Rodriguez left, suggesting to Dupri that perhaps she should reach out to Natalya.

Men’s WarGames Advantage tag team match: Drew McIntyre & Logan Paul vs The Usos (Jey & Jimmy Uso)

In the final match of the show, The Usos (Jey & Jimmy Uso) battled the team of Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul in the men’s WarGames advantage tag team match to decide who walks into the match with the advantage this Saturday. The Usos had control of the match early, but Drew and Logan turned it around, isolating Jey.

A hot tag to Big Jim sparked a comeback as Jimmy delivered a Spear, followed by the Uso Splash to almost pin Logan when McIntyre saved the day. Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed arrived at the ringside, prompting Cody Rhodes and CM Punk to dart in and neutralize the threat. A brawl broke out at ringside as the two beat down Reed and Breakker.

Rhodes then became involved in a fight with McIntyre, and Jey Uso came flying over the top rope, taking everyone out. Logan seized the moment, rolling up Big Jim for a pinfall, and secured the victory. Punk then attacked Logan, and the brawl continued as The Vision cleaned house. Roman Reigns then appeared, taking out Reed and Breakker on the entrance ramp with back-to-back Superman Punches.

Drew was dumped outside as Reigns delivered another Superman Punch to Logan and one to McIntyre. Rhodes, Punk, and The Usos returned to the ring as the heels retreated. Brock Lesnar’s music hit, and he appeared alongside Paul Heyman. Lesnar slipped during the entrance but quickly recovered and marched forward.

Lesnar joined his team as they stared down the babyfaces, approaching the apron and stepping onto it. The Vision team entered as the brawl resumed. Chaos erupted everywhere as the show came to an end.

Winner: Drew McIntyre & Logan Paul

Grade: B

Match Insights & Backstage Moments:

  • Lesnar slipping and falling during the entrance was one of the best moments of the segment. Similar to last week, WWE kept the exclusive brawl footage for social media as the show ended just as the brawl began.
  • A promo before the main event aired where Stephanie Vaquer said that Nikki was a legend and that she had trusted her because of that, only to be betrayed. She explained that she knew Nikki’s tricks and history, but Nikki knew nothing about hers. Vaquer warned that if Nikki were smart, she would understand who she was dealing with and that now she would pay for it. She then asked Nikki if she was truly sure she wanted to step into the ring with her.
