The women’s match was added in 2018
The first ever Royal Rumble match was held in 1988 in the men’s division at the Copps Coliseum in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Since then the WWE Royal Rumble PLE has been held every year in late January with the 2025 edition being an exception as it is being held in early February.
Royal Rumble matches are purely based on eliminating opponents by tossing them over the top rope until the last one survives in the ring. Multiple records are made and broken during the match, one such record is being the Iron Man/Woman of a Rumble match.
The term Iron Woman refers to the superstar who spends the longest time in the match, showcasing resilience, and heart. While the ultimate goal is to win the match and headline WrestleMania by being the last competitor standing, the Iron Woman of the match earns respect and admiration for their determination, even if they don’t emerge victorious.
The concept of the Royal Rumble Iron Man/woman originated at the first-ever event in 1988, with Bret “The Hitman” Hart setting the standard by enduring an impressive 25 minutes and 42 seconds. Over the years, numerous superstars have followed in his footsteps, etching their names in the record books by surviving for over an hour or more.
Following the inception of the women’s Rumble match, multiple WWE stars from the women’s division showcased their toughness and durability in front of fierce competition. Here we will take a look at the Iron women from each match since 2018.
