The PLE features two high-stakes title matches
The Stamford-based promotion has arrived in Indianapolis for the first PLE of 2025 as they look to kick off the WrestleMania season. The 2025 edition of Royal Rumble will emanate from the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The PLE is usually held in late January with the only exception being 2025 when the PLE will be held in early February. Two title matches are set for the show along with the men’s and women’s Rumble match which will feature 30-participants with two wrestlers starting, and new entrants joining every 90 seconds until all participants are in the ring.
With less than a day left for the show, here are Khel Now’s predictions for this episode of WWE Royal Rumble 2025 PLE.
Men’s Royal Rumble Match
Since the inception of the event, the men’s Rumble match has been the epicenter of the PLE with 30 men entering the match to try and win a chance at headlining WrestleMania and fight for the title.
This year multiple big names have announced their entry into the Rumble match including Roman Reigns who is looking to recapture the title after reclaiming the Ula Fala in the debut episode of Raw on Netflix. John Cena is also participating in the last Rumble of his career as he looks to break the tie with Ric Flair and become the 17-time WWE World Champion.
While there are multiple other stars who have announced their participation, Reigns has gained momentum since winning in the men’s WarGames match at Survivor Series 2024 PLE and is aiming to reclaim the glory he lost at WrestleMania 40.
Predicted Winner: Roman Reigns
Women’s Royal Rumble Match
The Women’s Rumble match was introduced first in 2018 and has created some of the most iconic moments. Similar to the men’s match the women’s Rumble match winner also gets a title shot at WrestleMania.
Multiple big names including former champions and rising contenders have announced their entry into the Rumble match. Charlotte Flair has also announced her return and participation in the women’s Rumble match. She is one of the favorites to win the match and reports suggest that the promotion is considering having Flair win a championship following her return.
While there are other contenders in the match that can give a tough opposition it looks like the promotion is moving toward a storyline between Flair and the current WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton.
Predicted Winner: Charlotte Flair
DIY (c) vs Motor City Machine Guns – 2 Out Of 3 Falls Match for the WWE Tag Team Championship
Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin (Motor City Machine Guns) have got their rematch against Johnny Gargano and Tomasso Ciampa for the WWE Tag titles after defeating Pretty Deadly.
The clash for the WWE Tag Team titles is set for the first PLE this Saturday and will be a two out of three falls match as MCMG looks to recapture the title, while DIY wants to fend off the former champion and hold on to the titles.
While MCMG have gained momentum after winning back-to-back matches and are looking to regain the titles. Ciampa and Gargano on the other hand have not held back in using dirty methods to win a match and they will likely not hold back in their title defense. MCMG are now very aware of the fact that DIY will play dirty and will likely have a game plan to thwart DIY’s tactics.
Predicted Winner: Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin)
Cody Rhodes vs Kevin Owens – Undisputed WWE Championship (Ladder Match)
Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes is set for a clash against his former friend Kevin Owens in a ladder match at the Lucas Oil Stadium. While Owens has been unable to pin the champion and has recently suffered defeat in their title clash at December 14 Saturday Night’s Main Event.
KO will look to inflict damage early which would thwart Rhodes’ momentum and help Owens in capturing the title. However, it seems unlikely that the promotion would decide on making KO the champion ahead of WrestleMania as Rhodes retaining the title would set up multiple dream matches.
Predicted Winner: Cody Rhodes
