WWE Royal Rumble is one of the biggest PPV

The men’s and women’s 30-person over-the-top combat royales, which take place every year, are the show’s highlight. The winner gets a shot in a main event title match at WrestleMania.

WWE Royal Rumble rules & format

All thirty stars are selected at random. No. 1 and No. 2 start things off. Typically, a new person enters every two minutes, although there have been years when it takes 60 or 90 seconds.

There are no pinfalls or submissions. To be eliminated, a wrestler must toss another over the top rope and have both feet contact the floor. The final man and woman remaining in their respective matchups will be awarded a world championship shot of their choice at WWE WrestleMania.

  • No. of contestants: 30
  • Two of them start the match
  • A new contestant joins every 90 seconds (or two minutes) until all 30 individuals have entered.
  • Elimination happens when someone is flung over the top rope and both feet strike the floor.
  • The last person standing is the winner.

The WWE Royal Rumble match’s winner must be determined definitively. That includes how wrestlers are eliminated. The last two contestants in the 1995 WWE Royal Rumble were Shawn Michaels and The British Bulldog. Davey Boy Smith looked to have eliminated Michaels, but only one foot touched the ground. Michaels returned to the ring and eliminated Smith to win the bout.

It was an unofficial regulation at the time, which puzzled fans. Michaels’ efforts were adopted as an official regulation that had to be obeyed. It altered the contest forever.

Since then, other stars have followed Michaels’ lead. Kofi Kingston, John Morrison, Naomi and Katana Chance are just a few of the wrestlers who have found innovative tactics to stay in the WWE Royal Rumble battle, such as executing handstands, laying on their backs and even utilizing chairs.
