Change in WrestleMania 42 plans due to Roman Reigns

Self Made Pro has reported that originally, WrestleMania 42 was set to feature Roman Reigns vs Bron Breakker and Cody Rhodes vs CM Punk in early November. However, Reigns chose to return to the Rhodes matchup, which led to CM Punk vs Breakker on the opposite side of the upcoming card.

Reports suggest that the initial plan, even before that, was for Reigns to face Seth Rollins. After WrestleMania, Bron Breakker and the rest of The Vision were supposed to turn on Seth, setting up a title match against Reigns. However, Rollins’ injury during the Crown Jewel PLE altered those plans.

AJ Lee’s contract details & John Cena’s appearance in 2026

According to a report from Fightful Select, AJ Lee was never planned to work a full-time schedule after her return, and her TV appearances will remain intermittent.

Lee recently took part in the women’s WarGames match at the 2025 edition of Survivor Series. Lee submitted Becky Lynch to secure the victory for her team, which consisted of Rhea Ripley, Iyo Sky, Charlotte Flair, and Alexa Bliss.

People have pointed out that John Cena is being promoted for next year’s Raw after WrestleMania. Cena is set to compete in his final WWE match next Saturday at the December 13 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event.  

Update on Seth Rollins

During a recent Instagram Q&A on Seth Rollins’ personal trainer Jay Ferruggia’s account, it was shared that the former World Heavyweight Champion is no longer wearing a sling and is progressing well with his rehab.

However, Ferruggia chose not to comment on his client’s availability for WrestleMania 42. Rollins was originally set to battle Roman Reigns at the PLE.

WWE insider unhappy with John Cena vs Gunter

According to TC of WrestleVotes, there are people within WWE who don’t love the idea of John Cena facing Gunther in his retirement match. Cena is set to compete in his final match at the December 13 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event.

“I know other people who don’t love it. People within WWE don’t love it. I know people on the inside don’t love it, but understand it. Gunther has the potential to be huge – heel, or babyface if you want – for five, ten, 15 years with this company. So if he could be the one to retire John Cena, you’d probably take that.”

Sami Zayn’s World title aspirations

A few weeks ago, rumors circulated that Sami Zayn was the favorite to win the 2026 Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia and capture a world title at WrestleMania, following his ongoing issues with The Vision.

However, those plans appear to have been scrapped after Roman Reigns decided against pursuing a full-time Hollywood career. According to Ibou of Self Made during a recent livestream, Reigns is now being included in the world title picture for next year, while Zayn’s world title ambitions have been sidelined, especially after Seth Rollins’ injury and his removal from The Vision.

LA Knight can never be a WWE World Champion

During the aforementioned Self-Made livestream, it was claimed that LA Knight still hasn’t been given a world title shot as the promotion doesn’t like him. He also added that despite the merch sales and huge pops, the promotion will likely don’t give him a push, unless they are forced to.

“They don’t like him like that. Yeah, they don’t like him like that. You see a wrestler getting huge pops, moving tons of merch, and your question—and this is any company, right?—your question becomes: when are they going to get the ball? Why haven’t they been given the ball? It’s been years, they’ve been hot, so what’s going on?

The answer is always that the booker just doesn’t want to give them the ball. They don’t care to give them the ball. They will never do it unless they are forced to.”

WWE – TNA Partnership

PWInsider dismissed the speculation that the WWE–TNA partnership would end following TNA’s announcement of its new TV deal with AMC.

In January 2025, WWE announced a multi-year partnership aimed at creating unprecedented crossover opportunities within WWE and TNA programming for NXT Superstars and TNA Wrestling Stars. Stars from both promotions have made multiple crossover appearances, creating new storylines and incredible matchups.

Paul Wight, better known among WWE fans as The Big Show, shared on Notsam Wrestling Live that he hopes to make one more full-time run before officially retiring from in-ring competition.
