Shinsuke Nakamura’s WWE exit
On the 03/07 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura defended the title against LA Knight in the main event. Knight emerged victorious as he pinned Nakamura to become the new US Champion.
After the loss, rumors started circulating online over the weekend of Nakamura leaving the Stamford-based promotion. According to Dave Meltzer, the rumors of Nakamura leaving were untrue, as WWE sources confirmed it to be false.
Furthermore, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select has reported that no one in WWE had “heard anything” that would lend credibility to the rumors of Nakamura parting ways with the Stamford-based promotion.
Aleister Black WWE return
On Monday, February 10th, AEW made headlines by announcing the immediate release of three prominent talents: Miro, Malakai Black (Aleister Black), and Ricky Starks (Ricky Saints). While Saints has already signed with the Stamford-based promotion following his AEW exit and now competes on the NXT brand, fans are awaiting Black’s return to the WWE.
According to a report from PWNexus, Aleister Black is expected to return to the Stamfor-based promotion on the first SmackDown episode after WrestleMania 41.
Creative plans for Roxanne Perez
Despite appearing at the NXT Roadblock special event last week, Fightful reports that former NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez is likely to continue her feud with Bayley on the main roster.
Perez suffered defeat in a singles match against former TNA Knockout Champion and newest addition to NXT’s Women’s division, Jordynne Grace. Roxanne has been involved in a feud against Bayley since early February.
