Here is a closer look at the latest WWE rumours and news.

John Cena Classic’s original format reportedly scrapped

The John Cena Classic is scheduled for December 14 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida. However, the tournament’s original concept reportedly looked different from what WWE is currently planning.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the initial idea was to have fans vote on the winner of individual tournament matches rather than using the traditional match results to determine who advanced. That format has reportedly been scrapped, although the revised structure has not yet been fully clarified.
The event was announced by John Cena during his appearance on the November 2 episode of Raw. Cena revealed that the tournament would feature a new championship and that Cody Rhodes would be its first confirmed participant.
WWE is also planning an Avengers: Doomsday-themed edition of Worlds Collide on December 15, featuring talent from the main roster, NXT, and AAA. The two-day event is part of the company’s collaboration with Disney, with further details about the tournament format and participants still awaited.
CM Punk teases working both John Cena Classic and Worlds Collide

While Rhodes became the first invitee for the John Cena Classic tournament, CM Punk could be part of the event too. The former WWE Champion recently reacted to the company’s announcement of the John Cena Classic and the Avengers: Doomsday-themed Worlds Collide event on Instagram, indicating that he intends to “work both shows.
Punk’s comment has generated speculation about his involvement in both shows. However, he has not been officially announced as a participant in either event. He is already scheduled for an NXT Championship match against Grayson Waller and a No Holds Barred contest against Kevin Owens on SmackDown, which he lost as per spoilers.
Sami Zayn reportedly tipped to defeat Roman Reigns at Crown Jewel 2026

Sami Zayn could pull off a major upset when he faces Roman Reigns at Crown Jewel 2026 on November 7 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. According to a report discussing comments made by Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio, both believe that WWE could book Zayn to defeat Reigns in their Champion vs. Champion contest.
The match will determine the Men’s Crown Jewel Champion, with neither wrestler’s regular world championship on the line. Reigns enters the contest as the World Heavyweight Champion, while Zayn holds the Undisputed Championship.
The speculation gained momentum following the November 2 episode of Raw. Reigns and Zayn exchanged words during the opening segment, revisiting their history in The Bloodline. Zayn made it clear that he no longer wanted to remain in Reigns’ shadow.
A victory would be a significant achievement for Zayn, especially given Reigns’ standing in the promotion. However, the prediction from Meltzer and Alvarez should not be treated as a confirmed match result or a leaked creative decision.
Jacob Fatu reportedly set to rejoin The Bloodline for Survivor Series: WarGames

However, a loss in the Crown Jewel match might be disappointing news for Reigns; he might receive a major boost ahead of a rumored WarGames match against 946. Jacob Fatu could be nearing his return to action ahead of the Survivor Series: WarGames on November 28. According to a PWInsider Elite report, Fatu has been filming material for WWE alongside other wrestlers expected to compete in the upcoming WarGames match.
The current reported plan is for Fatu to join Roman Reigns, Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso and Solo Sikoa against The 946. The faction’s rivalry with The Bloodline has intensified in recent weeks, particularly after the November 2 episode of Raw.
Fatu has been absent from WWE programming since the September 28 episode of Raw, when Jaida Parker ran him over with a car during the ongoing conflict involving The 946. The storyline attack was used to write him off television, leaving questions about when he would return.
The 946 added another member on November 2 when Cruz Montana revealed himself as the masked attacker who had struck Reigns with a chair. His arrival gives the faction another important piece ahead of the expected WarGames clash.
Jake “The Snake” Roberts clarifies his WWE status
Although Fatu could be back in action, another rumored star WWE Hall of Famer, Jake “The Snake” Roberts, might not be part of the program. He has clarified that he is not under contract with the promotion, correcting the impression created by his earlier comments about returning to work for the company.
Roberts had recently suggested that he had re-signed with WWE and was doing some work for the promotion after leaving AEW. However, in a video shared on November 3, he explained that his involvement was limited to signing autographs, appearing at fan events, and working on Topps cards. He specifically stated that he was not under contract with WWE.
The clarification puts an end to speculation about a potential backstage or on-screen role for the veteran wrestler. Roberts was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2014 and remains one of the most recognisable personalities from the company’s past.
Shawn Michaels reportedly not taking over Bruce Prichard’s WWE creative role

Another speculation about change in the backstage role was making headlines as soon as Bruce Pitchard’s possible departure hit the deck. Reports suggested that Michaels could replace Bruce Prichard as Executive Director of Creative Writing and Talent after WrestleMania 43.
However, a new update from Fightful Select, reported by Fightful, states that WWE sources have denied the suggestion that Michaels is set to take over Prichard’s position. The report also noted that the rumours surrounding changes across WWE, NXT, Evolve and ID were either inaccurate or far from finalized.
This puts the speculation about Shawn Michaels moving from NXT to WWE’s main roster creative team to rest, at least for now.
Is CM Punk confirmed for the John Cena Classic and Worlds Collide?
No. CM Punk has teased working both events in an Instagram comment, but WWE has not officially confirmed his participation in the December 14 John Cena Classic or the December 15 Worlds Collide event.
Is Jacob Fatu officially confirmed for the Bloodline’s WarGames match at Survivor Series 2026?
No. Reports suggest that Fatu is preparing for a return and is expected to join Roman Reigns, The Usos, and Solo Sikoa against The 946. WWE has not officially announced the match or confirmed its participants.
