Before SummerSlam 2026, WWE delivered the third Saturday Night’s Main Event of 2026. The 45th edition concluded on July 18 at the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York.
The upcoming event marked the first SNME to be held at Madison Square Garden since the 35th edition of the show in August 2007.
Apart from appearances from Roman Reigns and Jalen Brunson, the show featured a Women’s Tag Team title match, a tag team match, a no-disqualification match, and a grudge match.

WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event July 2026 Summary and Highlights
Brie Bella & Paige (c) vs Fatal Influence (Fallon Henley & Lainey Reid) – WWE Women’s Tag Team titles match
In the first match of the show, Paige and Brie Bella defended the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles against Fatal Influence’s Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid. Their leader, Jacy Jayne, was ringside for the match and continued to interfere in the match.
Paige and Brie managed to outsmart the rising stars and even outlast interference as Paige rolled up Lainey for the pin. However, Jayne helped Lainey reverse the roll-up as Ried secure the three count to secure the win and become the new Women’s Tag Team Champions.
Winner & New: Fatal Influence (Fallon Henley & Lainey Reid)

Danhausen vs JD McDonagh – No disqualification match
The no-disqualification stipulation helped JD McDonagh against Danhausen, as his Judgment Day stablemate, Dominik Mysterio, manhandled Danhausen and even mocked the crowd by repeatedly disrespecting the New York Knicks jersey.
However, the tide turned in Danhausen’s favor as Minihausens appeared to distract the two, while Danhausen used his clone machine to bring out Knicks’ star Karl-Anthony Towns, who came out to chokeslam McDonagh and another chokeslam through the table to Mysterio as Danhausen finished it off by pinning McDonagh.
Winner: Danhausen

Bayley vs Lyra Valkyria
The co-main event of the show at MSG saw two former tag team partners battle in a grudge match. Both Bayley and Lyra Valkyria delivered a no-holds-barred chaotic showdown, with both trying to take each other out.
A more unhinged version of Valkyria edged out the Role Model and locked her in a submission, putting Bayley to sleep to win the match. Lyra continued the brutal assault after the match, slamming Bayley onto the steel steps.
Winner: Lyra Valkyria

CM Punk & Cody Rhodes vs Gunther & Sami Zayn – Tag Team match
The main event saw CM Punk and Cody Rhodes team up before their title showdown at SummerSlam to take on Sami Zayn and Gunther, who were looking for a win, as with a win they would be added to the title match, making it a fatal four-way affair.
However, SmackDown GM Nick Aldis spoiled the party as he pulled out the referee, stopping Gunther’s pin on Cody, and then nailed Gunther with the Undisputed title. Punk followed it up with a GTS and dragged Cody on top of Gunther to make the pin and secure the win in the tag team match to keep their SummerSlam showdown one-on-one.
Winner: CM Punk & Cody Rhodes

Roman Reigns & New York Knicks’ Jalen Brunson
World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns and New York Knicks’ captain Jalen Brunson closed out the show. Reigns celebrated the win, lauding Brunson and his team and presenting a custom title for the MVP. Suddenly, Seth Rollins’ music hit as Indiana Pacers’ Tyrese Haliburton appeared.
Rollins capitalized on the distraction to attack Roman from behind, looking to deliver another stomp as Brunson confronted Rollins, stopping the attack and giving Reigns enough time to recover and deliver a Superman punch followed by a spear to send both Rollins and Haliburton packing.
Reigns and Brunson then celebrated with the New York crowd at MSG as the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy was brought out to close out the show.
