Fatal Influence capitalized on outside interference to leave Madison Square Garden with championship gold

Fatal Influence captured the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship in controversial fashion, defeating Brie Bella and Paige during the opening contest of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event at Madison Square Garden.

The broadcast began with a video package celebrating the iconic history of Madison Square Garden before Jalen Brunson was shown arriving backstage as part of WWE’s traditional talent arrival montage. Joe Tessitore and Stephanie McMahon then welcomed viewers before commentary shifted focus to the night’s opening championship clash.

Paige opened the match against Lainey Reid, immediately setting an aggressive tone. Fallon Henley attempted to get involved early, but Paige knocked her out of the ring before flooring Reid with a Lou Thesz Press and a flurry of right hands.

Brie Bella received the first tag, and the champions quickly worked together to deliver a double-team codebreaker. Bella followed with a dropkick, but Fatal Influence soon regained control through constant tags, isolating Paige inside their corner. Reid slowed the pace with a rear chin lock before Paige escaped with a jawbreaker, only for Reid to cut off her attempt to tag Bella.

The momentum finally shifted when Paige created enough separation to bring Bella into the match. The WWE Hall of Famer exploded off the hot tag, overcoming a brief slip on the turnbuckle before unloading her signature YES Kicks on Henley.

With both opponents draped across the ropes, Bella shouted “Brie Mode!” before connecting with running knees to both members of Fatal Influence. She then landed a missile dropkick on Henley for a near fall and locked in the YES Lock, but Henley managed to reach the bottom rope to force a break.

Henley answered with a cutter before Paige re-entered the action. Paige rocked Henley with repeated knees on the apron and punched Jacy Jayne off the ring apron after she tried to interfere. Henley responded with a sliding German suplex that left Paige reeling, while Bella sent Henley crashing into the barricade on the outside.

The closing moments quickly descended into chaos. Reid missed a dive, allowing Paige to score a near fall. Henley, who was visibly bleeding from the mouth, broke up the pin before Paige connected with a kick to Reid’s face.

Jayne then provided the decisive distraction, allowing Henley to flatten Paige with a clothesline. Reid charged again but was sent shoulder-first into the ring post.

Paige nearly stole the victory with a roll-up, only for Jayne to shove her over from the outside. Reid immediately grabbed a handful of tights during the scramble to secure the three-count.

Fatal Influence celebrated as new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions while pyrotechnics erupted around Madison Square Garden. A disappointed Paige and Brie Bella could only watch as their championship reign came to an abrupt and controversial end.
