WWE SmackDown (September 25, 2026) - MITB qualifying matches; CM Punk & Charlotte Flair in action & more set for next week

The 9/18 SmackDown featured another World title match.
After regaining the Undisputed title, Sami Zayn had to defend it on the September 18 edition of Friday Night SmackDown in Hilliard Center in Corpus Christi, Texas. Zayn defended the title in the main event against Kevin Owens. A loss would mean another short run with the World title, this time not even surpassing the 9-day mark.
However, Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae’s interference, followed by CM Punk’s arrival, helped Sami retain the title as Punk nailed Owens with the title. Meanwhile, the show also kicked off the Money in the Bank Qualifying matches for the Blue brand.
Trick Williams defeated Randy Orton and Rey Fenix, while Jacy Jayne defeated Alexa Bliss and Jade Cargill to secure the third spot in the respective men’s and women’s MITB ladder match.

The ongoing qualifying matches for the men’s and women’s Money in the Bank 2026 will continue next week with the fifth qualifying match. In the men’s qualifiers, Finn Balor, CM Punk and Gunther will battle to secure the fifth spot.
Meanwhile, Giulia, Charlotte Flair and Lash Legend battle in the women’s MITB Qualifying match to punch their ticket to New Orleans and secure the fifth spot.
