This week’s episode of SmackDown features a title rematch

The Stamford-based promotion delivered the historic debut episode of Monday Night RAW on Netflix as promised. The show featured multiple appearances from top stars and four high-stakes matches that featured breathtaking moments.

The promotion is now ready for its regular programming of Friday Night SmackDown this week. The second episode of the Blue brand will be aired live from the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon. This is also the second episode to air for three hours following the transition last week.

The highlighting moment from last week’s episode was Tiffany Stratton cashing in her MITB contract against Nia Jax and becoming the WWE Women’s Champion for the first time in her career.

WWE SmackDown confirmed match card & segments

  • Shinsuke Nakamura vs LA Knight – United States Championship

Shinsuke Nakamura vs LA Knight – United States Championship

The feud between the current United States Champion Shinsuke Nakamura and LA Knight began when Nakamura attacked Knight on his return in November 2024. This feud culminated in a title match between the two at Survivor Series 2024 PLE where Nakamura defeated Knight to become the US Champion.

The win ended Knight’s reign at 119 days and kicked off Nakamura’s third US title reign. Nakamura wasn’t done with Knight as he continued his attack after Survivor Series PLE. In the last week’s episode, Knight returned the favor and attacked Nakamura after his match against Andrade.

This attack led to the announcement of a rematch between the two rivals for the 01/10 episode of Friday Night SmackDown. This will be the first title defense for Nakamura’s third US title reign.
