This week’s episode of the Blue brand is SNME go-home show
As the Stamford-based promotion gears up for the January 25 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event, storyline and feuds have reached a boiling point. The 01/24 episode of Friday Night SmackDown will be the go-home show for SNME.
The 01/24 episode of SmackDown will be aired live from the Moody Centre in Austin, Texas which is about an hour away from the SNME venue in San Antonio. The episode will follow in the footsteps of Raw and will continue building toward SNME and will likely feature more Royal Rumble announcements.
Multiple top stars are slated to appear on the show including Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton, LA Knight, Women’s US Champion Chelsea Green, Bianca Belair, and many more.
The promotion has announced two exciting matchups for the show in Austin. Let us now take a look at the confirmed match card and segments for the -01/24 show.
WWE SmackDown confirmed match card & segments
- LA Knight vs Tama Tonga
- Motor City Machine Guns vs Pretty Deadly
- Cody Rhodes set to appear
LA Knight vs Tama Tonga
Former United States Champion LA Knight is set to lock horns against The Bloodline member Tama Tonga. The two stars have collided in the last two episodes as Tonga along with Jacob Fatu are wreaking havoc in the absence of Solo Sikoa.
Tonga and Fatu cost Knight the US title rematch against Shinsuke Nakamura in the 01/10 episode of the Blue brand. Knight retaliated on last week’s episode and was aided by Braun Strowman when the numbers game took over. This brawl led to a clash between Fatu and Strowman at SNME this Saturday and a clash between Knight and Tonga for 01/28 SmackDown.
Motor City Machine Guns vs Pretty Deadly
Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin (Motor City Machine Guns) are on a tear since they lost the WWE Tag Team Title at the hands of Johnny Gargano and Tomasso Ciampa (DIY). They have picked up back-to-back wins against A-Town Down Under and Los Garzas in the last two episodes of the Blue brand.
In their quest to reclaim the tag titles, the former champions are set to battle the team of Kit Wilson and Elton Prince (Pretty Deadly). Wilson and Price tried to interfere in the clash between MCMG and Los Garzas last week which led to the announcement of the clash between the two for the 01/24 episode.
