WWE SmackDown Summary and Highlights
Jacob Fatu interrupts Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes asked the fans in Fort Lauderdale what they wanted to talk about. Before he could say anything meaningful, Jacob Fatu interrupted and made his way to the ring. Fatu stepped inside and said that Cody wouldn’t be standing there talking about Elimination Chamber if it wasn’t for Drew McIntyre, claiming he had both Cody and Sami Zayn beaten, and that even Cody knew it.
He continued by saying his focus wasn’t on Rhodes, but on Drew McIntyre. Fatu called Drew out, prompting GM Nick Aldis to appear in an attempt to calm the situation. Aldis said he had anticipated something like this might happen, which was why he had given Drew the night off.
Aldis added that he couldn’t take any unnecessary risks and asked Fatu to give Cody his time before meeting him in his office to discuss matters further. However, Drew McIntyre then appeared in the bleachers, declaring that no one could keep the champion’s name out of their mouth. He said he was the Champion and would do whatever he wanted, revealing that he had purchased an entire section just to watch the show.
McIntyre called out Fatu, who rushed toward him as security attempted to intervene. Fatu began shoving security aside while Aldis pleaded with him not to jeopardize his opportunities ahead of Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania.
Aldis then ordered security to remove McIntyre from the building. Fatu insisted he needed to get his hands on Drew before eventually being escorted away as well, while McIntyre continued boasting that everyone wanted to beat him because he was the Champion. Rhodes responded by saying the world wasn’t coming after Drew because he was the Champion, it was because he was an a*shole.

Dragunov then calmed down as Hayes responded that Ilja didn’t need to remind him who he was. Ilja fired back, saying the one thing that would not happen was Hayes walking into WrestleMania as United States Champion, but first, he needed to take care of Tama Tonga.
- Backstage, Nick Aldis continued trying to reason with Jacob Fatu, reminding him how long it had taken both of them to reach WWE. Aldis told him he would give him Drew McIntyre, but that he would have to wait. Fatu responded that he wouldn’t be waiting much longer before walking off.

Ilja jumped Solo from behind, but the numbers game quickly took over as the MFTs overwhelmed and manhandled him. They lined Ilja up for further punishment when Matt Cardona rushed in to make the save, followed by Apollo Crews, but both were swiftly taken out as well.
The arena lights suddenly went out, and the Wyatt Sicks glitch appeared on the screen. Uncle Howdy addressed Solo, accusing him of using his family as a crutch. He said that if Solo truly was the shining light, then he should prove he could stand on his own. Howdy added that the next time he stepped into the ring, he would come alone and expose all of Solo’s insecurities, leaving the question of whether Solo would show up.

He suggested there was something more dangerous than the RKO and questioned where that version of Orton had gone. Orton fired back, saying the only version of himself he needed to take Black down was standing right there. He told Black to lose the suit and put on his gear, adding that he was heading to Nick Aldis to get a match made.

Cody shrugged it off, saying he had simply capitalized on an opportunity, adding that not seizing those moments was why Sami had never captured the title. Sami shot back that Rhodes had been handed the role of the “golden boy,” while Sami had been trying to complete his own for ten years and doing the right thing often backfired for him. Rhodes countered by pointing out that he had faced the same setback in Germany, losing the title despite doing what he thought was right, and told Sami the only obstacle in his way was himself.
- Cody then walked off, and Trick Williams appeared, noting that with friends like Rhodes, who needs enemies? Once Trick left, Sami caught up with Cody, apologized, and admitted Rhodes had been right.
