  • General Manager Nick Aldis reveals that he is no longer on administrative leave and then introduces the new Undisputed Champion CM Punk. The newly crowned Champion greeted the crowd, recapping his title win. He said he drove from his home to the Allstate Arena after learning that a challenger for the WWE Championship was needed.
    • Punk said that he heard what Sami said on social media and stated that he is willing to give Sami a rematch. He then called out Sami Zayn, Gunther, Finn Balor, Royce, Damian Priest, and Trick Williams before Cody Rhodes interrupted the segment.
    • Cody Rhodes then arrived, recalling their previous in-ring encounter and noting that the roles had been reversed at the time, when he told Punk to simply say “when.” Punk responded by saying, “When,” prompting Rhodes to answer, “SummerSlam.” The two shook hand and Aldis made the match official.
  • Finn Balor vs Tama Tonga: Balor pinned Tonga after delivering the Coup de Grace to register his first win since the move to the SmackDown brand.
  • Backstage, Carmelo Hayes, in an interview, cuts a promo calling out Trick Williams and Lil Yachty, ahead of his match with Williams.
  • Backstage, R-Truth was settling a World Cup bet with Axiom. The War Raiders then confronted Truth, growing frustrated over their proposed title match and threatening him. Jimmy Uso and Jacob Fatu then arrived. Jimmy asked Truth if he had seen Solo Sikoa, and Truth replied that Solo was busy babysitting. Jacob then asked about Royce Keys, but Truth claimed he had never seen him.
    • Damian Priest soon entered the scene and informed Fatu of Royce Keys’ whereabouts. Jimmy and Fatu left as Truth questioned Priest about revealing Royce’s whereabouts, but Priest responded that Keys was not their responsibility.
  • Backstage, GM Nick Aldis was talking to Sami Zayn on the phone, as the former champion was on a mental break. Sami complained about the SummerSlam match between Cody and Punk, but Aldis said that his decision was final.
    • Gunther then arrived and asked Aldis to fix the mess, giving him until the end of the night to give him an Undisputed title match, and he doesn’t care if it’s against Cody or Punk. Aldis said that he will take in under consideration.
  • Jimmy Uso and Jacob Fatu arrived for a promo, with Big Jim calling out Solo Sikoa when Royce Keys arrived, and the back-and-forth between the two led to a match between the two.
  • Jimmy Uso vs Royce Keys: Jimmy defeated Keys after delivering a spear. Solo Sikoa attacked Big Jim ringside during the match when Jacob Fatu arrived to make the save. Fatu continued the beatdown after the match as Keys tried to talk sense into Fatu, who laid him out with a superkick and continued to beat down Solo, asking him to get with the family at Raw on Monday, because next time he won’t stop.
  • Backstage, Candice LeRae arrived with Johnny Gargano, interrupting CM Punk’s interview. Candice said Sami Zayn had been the only person to stand by Gargano and that, for nine days, they believed in the underdogs. Punk interrupted, telling them to stop what they were doing and return to what they did best in the ring, saying their current approach clearly was not working.
    • Punk then ran into Finn Balor, who welcomed the new Champion to SmackDown and said he had been hoping to cross paths with him.
  • In a video package, Fatal Influence cut a promo noting how they will be the center of attention next week when they challenge Brie Bella and Paige for the Women’s Tag Team titles.
  • Alexa Bliss vs Jade Cargill: Cargill defeated Bliss after interference from Michin and B-Fab, who took out Charlotte Flair ringside. Post-match, Michin and B-Fab held Flair in the corner, while Cargill viciously targeted Bliss’ arm with a steel chair.
  • Backstage, Lil Yachty revealed a custom United States title for Trick Williams, a fur edition title, which Williams liked. Meanwhile, Flair was shown backstage, talking Bliss into the trainer’s room.
  • Trick Williams vs Carmelo Hayes – Non-title match: The match ended in a DQ win, likely for Carmelo, as Baron Corbin returned to WWE, attacking Hayes and then Williams, laying them both out with the end of days.
  • In the closing moments of the show, Gunther called out Nick Aldis and demanded the decision for SummerSlam. Aldis arrived and announced that Gunther would team with Sami Zayn to face Cody Rhodes and CM Punk at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
    • Gunther said that Aldis didn’t fix the mistake, and the GM said bringing Gunther to SmackDown was a mistake. Gunther then attacked the General Manager and repeatedly choked him out as officials tried to separate the two.
  • Cody Rhodes arrived as the show went off air to aid Aldis and challenged Gunther to a match. However, the Ring General walked away as Rhodes continued to call him out.
