The build towards ‘The Biggest Party of the Summer’, SummerSlam 2025, continues to intensify as WWE delivered the July 25 edition of Friday Night SmackDown. This week’s episode aired live from the Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.

Multiple top names, including Cody Rhodes, WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton, Drew McIntyre, Logan Paul, Charlotte Flair, and Alexa Bliss, among others, were advertised for the show. Country star Jelly Roll was also set to make an appearance ahead of his SummerSlam match alongside Randy Orton.

Alexa Bliss battled one-half of the Women’s Tag Team Champions, Roxanne Perez, while The Wyatt Sicks (Joe Gacy & Dexter Lumis) defended the WWE Tag titles against the team of Andrade and Rey Fenix. Get to know what happened this Friday, as we have the complete summary, highlights, results, and winners’ list for the 07/25 episode of WWE SmackDown.

WWE SmackDown Summary and Highlights

WWE remembers Hulk Hogan

The show kicked off with the entire WWE roster, along with multiple legends, gathered near the entrance ramp. Triple H lauded Hogan’s achievements, citing how important he was in the evolution of WWE.

A ten-bell salute commenced as fans and Superstars remembered the bona fide legend. The crowd erupted in “HOGAN” chants as a video aired, narrated by Triple H, recapping Hogan’s life and illustrious career, with Triple H paying tribute to the Immortal.

Jelly Roll & Randy Orton – Drew McIntyre & Logan Paul face off

Paul picked up the mic, stating it was good to be back in Cleveland, but the crowd responded with loud boos. Logan continued to berate the Cleveland audience, announcing that tonight they’d witness a special edition of IMPAULSIVE TV live.

The Maverick then took aim at Jelly Roll, who made his entrance and fired back at Logan for calling himself an “inspiration” while disrespecting the people of Cleveland. Logan responded, reminding everyone he was stepping into the ring with two of WWE’s finest, while Randy Orton had to tag with “him.”

Jelly got into the ring, calling Logan a “silver spoon kid” who’s only ever brought a ring light, while he was stepping into the ring to bring light to Logan’s real self. The country star expressed his love for WWE before delivering the line: “Prime-peddling punk-ass bitch!”

Drew McIntyre entered the ring as Jelly Roll revealed he wasn’t alone. Suddenly, Randy Orton’s music hit, and The Viper made his way to the ring. Orton looked to speak but instead blindsided McIntyre, igniting a brawl.

Jelly went after Logan while McIntyre tried to get his bearings. As McIntyre backed off to let Logan take over, Logan pummeled Jelly, but Orton pulled Drew out of the ring, allowing Jelly to recover and hit Logan with a huge shoulder tackle.

Logan retaliated with a knee and set up for his signature right hand, but Jelly ducked and hit a massive Bossman Slam. Orton stepped into the ring, celebrating alongside the country star. Logan and McIntyre retreated as Orton and Jelly Roll stood tall, celebrating to a roaring crowd.

Grade: B+

Key Takeaways:

  • Logan Paul, likely in character, mistook “Thank You Hogan” chants with “Thank You Logan”.

Alexa Bliss vs Roxanne Perez

In the first match of the show, Alexa Bliss faced off against one-half of the Women’s Tag Team Champions, Roxanne Perez. Bliss and Charlotte Flair are set to challenge Perez and Raquel Rodriguez for the tag titles at SummerSlam.

While Bliss maintained control for most of the match, Rodriguez attempted to interfere. Charlotte quickly stepped in to neutralize her, but Rodriguez retaliated with a powerful big boot. Bliss shifted her focus, taking out Rodriguez from the top rope but Perez capitalized on the distraction, rolling up Bliss for a cover, while grabbing the ropes to make the pin.

Winner: Roxanne Perez

Grade: B

Key Takeaways:

  • Alexa Bliss suffered a busted nose toward the end of the match.
  • Both teams are now 1-1 in singles matches as they prepare for the tag title clash at SummerSlam.

Jade Cargill vs Chelsea Green

Cathy Kelley caught up with Jade Cargill to ask how she was feeling ahead of her confirmed title shot against Tiffany Stratton at SummerSlam. Cargill confidently stated that next week at SummerSlam, she would prove why she’s a natural-born champion.

As Cargill walked off, Chelsea Green arrived with the Secret Hervice (Piper Niven & Alba Fyre). Green claimed she was screwed at Queen of the Ring and insisted that she, not Jade Cargill, should have been the winner.

Unaware that Cargill was still behind her, Green quickly realized her mistake, but it was too late. Cargill attacked, and the brawl spilled into the backstage area. Cargill dragged Green toward the entrance ramp and sent her crashing into the set.

Cargill threw Green back into the ring, the bell rang, and the match began. Although Green had a few moments of offense, Cargill quickly regained control, hit Jaded, and pinned her.

After the match, Fyre and Niven ambushed Cargill, but WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton rushed in to make the save. Cargill and Stratton teamed up to fend off the Secret Hervice before sharing a tense face-off, each gripping the title in a classic tug-of-war moment ahead of their title clash at SummerSlam.

Winner: Jade Cargill

Grade: C

Key Takeaways:

  • The match caught everyone off guard, even the commentary team.
  • The build-up for Stratton vs Cargill should be a priority for next week’s show.

Cody Rhodes

Rhodes picked up the mic as the Cleveland crowd erupted. Cody kicked off his promo, paying tribute to Hulk Hogan and emphasizing the Immortal’s monumental accomplishments.

The American Nightmare then shifted gears, hyping up the street fight at SummerSlam. Rhodes stated that he didn’t want to face ‘this’ John Cena, the one who didn’t want the match in the first place, but the real John Cena.

Cody made it clear that it wasn’t about nostalgia or headlines. He added that if this was Cena’s last SummerSlam, he needed to give it everything he had.

Rhodes continued, explaining that he wanted to fight the real John Cena because he needed to know it meant something, that it was real. The American Nightmare wrapped up the segment, declaring that he’ll see John Cena next week.

Grade: B

Key Takeaways:

  • Cody Rhodes acknowledged that Hulk Hogan’s legacy is complicated.
  • The two stars will now face off one final time next week ahead of the rematch at SummerSlam.

Jacob Fatu vs The Miz

Jacob Fatu cut a promo, warning Solo Sikoa ahead of their steel cage U.S. Title clash at SummerSlam. The Miz stepped in, declaring that he had unfinished business with Fatu, who had taken him out six weeks ago, putting him on the shelf.

Miz went on to say that he’d spoken with Nick Aldis and had secured a match against Fatu. The Cleveland crowd erupted in support of their hometown hero as Miz slapped Fatu across the face. Fatu accepted the challenge, and the two locked horns inside the squared ring.

Moments after the match began, Solo Sikoa, along with his MFT (JC Mateo, Talla Tonga & Tala Tonga) came out. The Miz initially took advantage of the distraction but Fatu fought back, taking out Solo and his MFT ringside to deliver a pop-up Samoan drop on the Miz and register the win.

After the match, Sikoa and his MFT attacked Fatu, but Jimmy Uso rushed in with a steel chair to help Fatu. Big Jim soon followed, taking out Mateo and Tonga, then dropping the ropes to send Sikoa crashing to the ringside floor.

Jimmy targeted Talla with the steel chair, but Talla remained unfazed, countering with a massive big boot to take Jimmy down. The beatdown continued as Talla lined up Fatu for a Samoan Spike. However, Fatu fought back, taking down Solo and his MFT with a hip attack.

Fatu then grabbed the steel chair and wrapped it around Solo’s neck, preparing to strike. But Talla stepped in, delivering a vicious clothesline that took Fatu down. Solo ordered his MFT to pick Fatu back up. Talla hit Fatu with a Chokeslam, and Solo followed with the Samoan Spike to finish him off, standing tall with the title.

Winner: Jacob Fatu

Grade: C+

Key Takeaways:

  • The Cleveland crowd erupted, cheering for one of their own, The Miz, but they also showed their support for Fatu.
  • A promo aired where both Aleister Black and Damian Priest cut a promo announcing their clash on next week’s show.

Backstage

B-Fab and The Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins) were interviewed backstage. B-Fab warned that the Wyatts were a different kind of enemy and needed to be dealt with carefully. Montez Ford complained about not being in the qualifying match, while Angelo Dawkins said it didn’t matter because they had next.

DIY (Tomasso Ciampa & Johnny Gargano) with Candice LeRae rolled up, telling them to step aside and fix the mess the Profits had made. They bickered until LeRae played peacemaker, saying they had a plan and the Profits just needed to stay out of the way.

Zelina Vega confronted Giulia, but Kiana James stepped in, making her return and informing Vega that she was Giulia’s representative and that she’d need to talk to her. Vega warned Giulia, asking for a rematch, but James told her she was already a step ahead and that Vega would get the title rematch next week. Vega faced off with Giulia, who then left with James.

Grade: C-

Key Takeaways:

  • Kiana James was absent from WWE programming since June 2024.
  • Giulia and Zelina Vega will run it back on next week’s show.

The Wyatt Sicks (Joe Gacy & Dexter Lumis) (c) vs Andrade & Rey Fenix – WWE Tag Team titles

In the main event of the show, WWE Tag Team Champions, The Wyatt Sicks (Joe Gacy & Dexter Lumis) defended the titles against Andrade and Rey Fenix. The newly formed tag team of Fenix and Andrade were able to successfully execute their game plan, with Andrade hitting the message on Gacy while Fenix took out Lumis.

However, before the referee could make the third pin, Wyatt Sicks’ Nikki Cross pulled the official out of the ring, causing the disqualification. Erik Rowan attacked Andrade and Fenix, with Fraxiom rushing in but meeting the same fate.

Motor City Machine Guns joined the fray, only to be taken down as Fenix and Andrade helped clear out Gacy. The Street Profits darted in, sending Rowan crashing to the ringside. DIY then brought in General Manager Nick Aldis as the brawl raged on.

Aldis stepped into the ring, declaring that he had had enough. He announced that the tag titles would be defended in a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match. The brawl erupted once again.

Winner: Andrade & Rey Fenix via DQ

Grade: B-

Key Takeaways:

  • The match was much shorter, in part due to the long entrances and the brawl.
