Lash Legend secures the final spot; Rey Fenix retains; Gunther-Nick Aldis brawl & more!

Before SummerSlam 2026, WWE delivered the July 31 go-home edition of Friday Night SmackDown. The show emanated live from the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Stars set to collide at the PLE met for the final time on Friday.

The show also finalized the last entrant in the Interim WWE Women’s title ladder match at SummerSlam, while WWE Tag Team Champions R-Truth and Damian Priest defended their titles against AAA World Tag Team Champions the War Raiders in a title vs title match.

WWE SmackDown Results & Winners

• Finn Balor kicked off the show to talk about his upcoming number one contenders match against Sami Zayn. The latter interrupted the promo to blast CM Punk for stealing the World title from him. The two argued over who was deserving of the title when Gunther attacked them.

• Gunther said that both of them are jokes when acting GM Adam Pearce arrived with security. Gunther asked if he needed to beat Pearce as well. Balor recovered and attacked Gunther as Sami joined in and the two brawled. Gunther dropped both men again with a double clothesline as Nick Aldis arrived to attack Gunther.
  • The two men brawled as security rushed into the ring to try and separate the two. Gunther dropped Aldis with a big boot as security managed to seperate the two and contain the chaos.

• Chelsea Green & Tiffany Stratton vs The Baddies (B-Fab & Michin): The Baddies defeated Green and Stratton. Post-match, Charlotte Flair arrived as Stratton and Green took out B-Fab and Michin, leaving Flair to brawl with Cargill. Charlotte stood tall in the end, dropping Cargill with a big boot.

• Backstage, Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer & Axiom) and Rey Fenix confronted JD McDonagh and Dominik Mysterio, setting up a AAA Cruiserweight Title showdown between Fenix and McDonagh.
• In a video package, Talla Tonga and Tama Tonga appeared with the message urging them to put their family above everything else moving forward. Haku arrived and declared that these were the sons. He delivered an impassioned pep talk in Tongan and reminded them that they were the Sons of Haku, and challenged them to restore the fear and respect their family once commanded.
• Damian Priest & R-Truth (WWE Men’s Tag Team Champions) vs The War Raiders (Erik & Ivar) (AAA World Tag Team Champions) Title vs Title match: The title vs title match ended in disqualification as Talla Tonga attacked Ivar and Tama took out Erik. The two continued the attack on Truth and Priest. Haku joined them in the ring as Tama & Talla picked up both the tag titles.

• Backstage, Trick Williams interrupted CM Punk’s interview and told him face-to-face that he should be glad he lost last week because, sooner or later, he is coming for the title. Punk said that he was actually disappointed Trick had lost, as he needed fresh challengers. He added that once Trick reaches that level, he is going to beat him.
• In a video package, Nick Aldis details his career ahead of his match with Gunther at SummerSlam.
• Trick Williams called out Baron Corbin for a match. Corbin came out and said that his time away from WWE had taught him the value of patience. He called Williams a dumb rookie and vowed to cut off the oxygen to Williams’ brain and take the title. Trick fired back by saying that on Sunday, 35,000 fans would be chanting, “Whoop That Trick.”

• Rey Fenix (c) vs JD McDonagh – AAA Cruiserweight title match: Fenix retained the title against McDonagh as Danhausen and Minihausens arrived to take out Dominik Mysterio.
• Giulia vs Lash Legend – Interim WWE Women’s title ladder match qualifiers: Legend defeated Giulia with ease to secure the final spot in the ladder match.

• Cody Rhodes arrived, but CM Punk interrupted his walkout and walked straight into the ring. Punk declared it was time to stop talking about friendship and focus on what really mattered. He then said they needed to find out who the better wrestler was, claiming it was strictly for business purposes.
  • Rhodes laughed off the idea of it and said Punk’s talk of “business purposes” sounded like typical double talk and insisted that it was personal. Cody said the championship meant being recognized as the Best in the World, wearing the crown, and calling the shots.
  • Punk reminded him that he had returned to make money, not friends, but added that he hadn’t come back to lose friends either. Rhodes said that one word kept bothering him: “tomorrow.” Instead, he wanted to know what Punk was going to do about it that very night.
  • A brawl then broke out between the two, spilling to the ringside with both men battering each other near the announce desk, until officials and security arrived. Despite the security, Cody and Punk continued the brawl, trading shots to close out the show before their showdown Saturday night.

• Damian Priest & R-Truth (WWE Men’s Tag Team Champions) vs The War Raiders (Erik & Ivar) (AAA World Tag Team Champions) title vs title match ended in a No-Contest as Tama & Talla Tonga (w/Haku) attacked
• Rey Fenix (c) defeated JD McDonagh – AAA Cruiserweight title
• Lash Legend defeated Giulia – Interim WWE Women’s title Qualifying match
• CM Punk & Cody Rhodes brawled to close out the show
