The May 1 edition of Friday Night SmackDown emanated from the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The show intensified the build towards the upcoming Backlash PLE, announcing more matches for the show, similar to this week’s Raw.
On the other hand, the show also featured Ricky Saints’ debut along with both Tag Team titles, which were contested on the show. Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes was also medically cleared to compete and battled in his first match since WrestleMania 42.

WWE SmackDown Summary and Highlights

Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes kicked off the show and announced that he was medically cleared to compete. However, Rhodes was then interrupted by the debutant, Ricky Saints, and the two agreed to a match for later in the show.
In the first match of the show, Fatal Influence’s Jacy Jayne defeated Charlotte Flair. Lainey Reid and Fallon Henley then joined Jayne in a post-match attack. Alexa Bliss tried to help, but failed at the numbers game when Rhea Ripley came out to make the save.
In a backstage segment, The Miz and Kit Wilson tried to prank Danhausen, but it blew up in their own faces. On the other hand, R-Truth and Damian Priest defeated Fraxiom (Nathan Frazier & Axiom) to retain the WWE Tag Team titles.
Talla Tonga attacked everyone after the match, and Solo Sikoa then cut a promo stating that Jacob Fatu made a huge mistake last week by attacking his family. The Usos (Jimmy & Jey Uso) then interrupted, telling that Solo needs to leave Fatu alone until Roman Reigns is done with him. Tonga then attacked the Usos, and Solo made it clear that Reigns is not his Tribal Chief.
Meanwhile, Cody Rhodes defeated Ricky Saints in a non-title match, and Gunther attacked Rhodes after the match, putting the Champion to sleep. Furthermore, The Miz agreed to be Danhausen’s mentor, but then turned on him and, along with Kit Wilson, attacked Danhausen.
In another singles match, Royce Keys defeated Angel. After the match, Keys, in a backstage segment with Jacob Fatu, offered to help him and motivate Fatu ahead of the title showdown at Backlash. The two were then attacked by Talla Tonga and Solo Sikoa.
Sami Zayn then cut a promo with the Gingerbread Man and attacked him with a low blow, before ripping him to pieces. Trick Wiliams made the save, throwing up the X. Backstage, Williams vowed to whoop Sami. announcing their title rematch for Backlash. Moments later, it was revealed that Gingerbread Man had died.
Paige and Brie Bella defeated Irresistible Forces (Nia Jax & Lash Legend) to retain the Women’s Tag Team titles. In another backstage segment, Danhausen demanded a match after the attack, and GM Nick Aldis agreed to it at Backlash only if Danhausen could find a tag team partner.
Jacob Fatu is on a mission

In the main event of the show, The Usos (Jimmy & Jey Uso) battle The MFTs (Solo Sikoa & Talla Tonga) in a tag team match after the attack earlier. However, the match ended in disqualification as Jacob Fatu attacked Tonga, causing the DQ.
Fatu then lay wasted to Tonga with a Samaon Drop through the announcer’s desk, before attacking Solo with the Tongan Death Grip. Fatu stepped into the ring to face off with the Usos and brushed straight past them without a second glance.
Fatu then grabbed a mic on the ramp and told the Usos to pass a message to Roman Reigns: he’s going to dog walk his ass at Backlash.
