WWE had announced multiple matches for the show, including the two first-round matches in the ‘Last Time Is Now Tournament’ to decide John Cena’s final opponent. Get to know what happened this Friday, as we have the complete summary, highlights, results, and winners’ list for the 11/14 episode of WWE SmackDown.
WWE SmackDown Summary and Highlights
Charlotte Flair backs out of WarGames

Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky appeared to hype up the fans for the upcoming WarGames match. Rhea then introduced their teammates, Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss, who made their way to the ring. The four women shared an embrace as Alexa stated that she was ready to take the fight to Nia and her group, adding that while they had started the chaos, they were going to finish it.
However, Flair then dropped a bombshell, saying she couldn’t go through with it. She admitted that she couldn’t pretend anymore and confessed she didn’t like or trust Rhea Ripley, calling her a snake. Flair believed Rhea probably felt the same way.
Flair continued, stating that there was just too much bad blood between them. She insisted that even though they had a common enemy, it didn’t change anything. Flair went on to say that while Alexa was her friend and she trusted her, she couldn’t be part of this. With that, Flair walked off, leaving Alexa trying to reason with her.
Grade: C–
Insights & Backstage Moments:
- With Flair’s exit, Ripley & Co. will now have to look for two teammates for WarGames.
- At least WWE decides to address the history and animosity between the two stars instead of randomly pairing them up for WarGames.
Jey Uso vs The Miz – Last Time is Now Tournament (First Round Match)
In the first match of the show, Jey Uso and The Miz battled in the third first-round match in the Last Time Is Now Tournament. The match picked up pace during the commercials, and Miz came very close to winning after landing the Skull Crushing Finale.
However, Jey fought his way back into the match and countered another Skull Crushing Final attempt from the top rope to deliver the spear, followed by the Uso Splash. With the win, Jey advanced in the tournament to join Rusev and Sheamus.
Winner: Jey Uso
Grade: C+
Match Insights & Backstage Moments:
- The Miz should have won the match due to his history with John Cena, but WWE again decided to put Jey over, despite the storyline will only make the IWC angry.
- Backstage, Tommaso Ciampa complained to Nick Aldis about Ilja Dragunov repeatedly denying his open-challenge requests, but Aldis told him that Dragunov was free to handle the challenges however he chose. Dragunov then offered the title match to Axiom instead, which only angered Ciampa even more.
- After everyone left, Nick Aldis ran into Paul Heyman and Bronson Reed, as Heyman told him he needed a word with him.
US Title Open Challenge: Ilja Dragunov (c) vs Axiom
Nick Aldis summoned security and demanded to know what Paul Heyman was doing before he and Bronson Reed were escorted out of the building. Heyman informed Aldis that he could bring anyone into WarGames from any brand, to which Aldis shot back that this entire interaction “could’ve been an email.”
Cody Rhodes had arrived just as Heyman referred to him as the “golden goose,” surrounded by protection. Heyman claimed that Cody had inserted himself into Vision’s business. Rhodes countered, saying that if Heyman put his allies in danger, he was next in line to face the consequences.
Rhodes added that if they weren’t here to fight, they should be. Bronson Reed stepped forward, declaring he was ready for a fight, which led Cody to propose a match for later that night. Heyman goaded Cody into making it a title match. Aldis warned Cody not to fall for Heyman’s bait, but Cody insisted, and the match was made official.
After the backstage segment, we go back into the ring to witness Ilja Dragunov battling Axiom with the United States title on the line. The action was fast-paced and short, with the Challenger having his moments, even delivering the Spanish Fly. Still, Dragunov, in the end, countered a Golden Ratio attempt with the Torpedo Moscow, followed by the H Bomb to pin Axiom and retain the US title.
Winner & Still: Ilja Dragunov
Grade: B
Match Insights & Backstage Moments:
- Another fabulous match by Dragunov, who continues to deliver every weekend.
- Tomasso Ciampa attacked Axiom after the match, but retreated once Nathan Frazer rushed in to rescue his tag partner.
- Backstage, R-Truth approached Nick Aldis for a conversation. Truth told, Aldis he knew he was under a lot of pressure, but insisted he needed to “use his balls,” proudly mentioning he’d polished them up for him. Truth ended up placing them back in Aldis’ hands.
- Chelsea Green and Alba Fyre then arrived as Truth left. Green complained that Aldis had canceled her championship celebration and that she didn’t even get pyro, demanding he give her a proper celebration next week. Aldis agreed and handed her R-Truth’s “balls,” leaving Green confused about who they actually belonged to.
Sami Zayn addresses Solo Sikoa
Sami Zayn said that ever since he arrived on SmackDown, he had experienced extreme highs and lows. He reflected on winning the United States Championship by defeating Solo Sikoa, battling John Cena, and facing top talent week after week, but noted that the past four weeks had been especially difficult.
Zayn explained that he had been forced to watch Solo and the MFTs run wild while he sat on the sidelines, not medically cleared, as they attacked people he cared about, including his friends. Sami declared that it all ended tonight and called out Solo Sikoa, who appeared with the MFT (Talla Tonga, JC Mateo, Tonga Loa, and Tama Tonga). Solo called Sami pathetic, a liar, and desperate.
He accused Sami of being selfish and claimed Sami didn’t care about the locker room or the fans, while he himself cared about his family and loyalty. Solo warned Sami, reminding him he was still hurt, and the MFT surrounded the ring, staring him down. Sikoa said he could drop Sami right then and there, but would wait until Sami was cleared, and when that time came, he would be coming for him.
Sami responded by announcing that he was now 100% medically cleared, and if Solo wanted to do something, he could do it immediately, but added that he hadn’t come alone. Shinsuke Nakamura, Rey Fenix, and the Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) attacked the MFT from behind.
Meanwhile, Sami went after Solo and set up for a Helluva Kick, but Talla pulled Solo to safety. Mateo jumped Sami, and the MFT swarmed him before MCMG, Fenix, and Nakamura fought them off and cleared the ring. Fenix hit a splash from the top rope onto the MFT (except Talla), and Sami and his allies stood tall as the group retreated.
Grade: B
Insights & Backstage Moments:
- Backstage, Jey and Jimmy Uso told Cody Rhodes they had his back for the main event. Jimmy then revealed that he had spoken to CM Punk earlier and confirmed that he would be on their team for WarGames.
- In another segment, Solo Sikoa demanded a match with Sami Zayn from GM Nick Aldis, who responded by telling Solo that he and the MFT could face Sami Zayn and his team in a traditional 5 vs 5 Survivor Series match on the SmackDown before Survivor Series. As Aldis walked away, the Wyatt Sicks glitch suddenly appeared on the screen, revealing Uncle Howdy lurking ominously in the background.
La Knight vs Zack Ryder – Last Time is Now Tournament (First Round Match)
In the fourth, first round match of the tournament, LA Knight made the walk to battle the mystery opponent, which turned out to be Zack Ryder, aka Matt Cardona, who made a return to the main roster after his NXT return as part of the working relationship with TNA.
Knight and Ryder continued to battle for control of the match, and Ryder even landed the Rough Ryder, but Knight was able to kick out. In the closing moments of the match, Knight caught Ryder mid-air to deliver a powerbomb, followed by the BFT to pin Ryder and advance in the tournament.
Winner: LA Knight

Jade Cargill vs B-Fab
B-Fab started strong, landing several offensive moves, but Cargill soon took control, delivering a thudding Chokeslam. Jade followed up with a vicious powerbomb and then another. Jade then hit the Jaded to secure the pin and win the match.
Afterward, Michin came in to check on B-Fab, while Jade flaunted the title and began arguing with Michin, even pushing her away, before the referee stepped in to diffuse the situation.
Winner: Jade Cargill
Grade: D
Match Insights & Backstage Moments:
- This was B-Fab’s first-ever match against a reigning champion.
- The short match featured several awkward spots that didn’t quite look right. However, it did achieve its goal of making Cargill look dominant.
- Backstage, Cathy Kelley interviewed Carmelo Hayes. Hayes first addressed the situation with The Miz, stating that while Mike may have won the battle, the war was far from over. He then acknowledged John Cena as the GOAT and talked about being in the Last Time Is Now Tournament. Bronson Reed approached and declared that he was going out to end Cody Rhodes, then planned to finish off Cena’s career after taking down Melo in the first round match next week.
Cody Rhodes (c) vs Bronson Reed – Undisputed WWE title match
In the main event of the show, Cody Rhodes defended the Undisputed title against Bronson Reed. The Champion was immediately overpowered by Reed, but bounced back, sending Reed over the barricade. However, it all came crashing down when Bron Breakker and Logan Paul attacked Rhodes near the announced desk, leading to a no-contest in the main event.
The two started beating down Cody Rhodes, and when Bronson Breakker went for the Spear, the Usos (Jimmy & Jey) rushed to Cody’s aid, sparking a brawl. They hit stereo Superkicks on both Breakker and Logan. A 1D from the Usos sent Logan crashing to the mat, and Big Jim brought out a table. Jey set it up and placed Logan on top of it.
The Usos climbed to the top as Drew McIntyre arrived, shoving Big Jim off the top rope. Nick Aldis stormed in, furious with Heyman, who began arguing that he could pick anyone for the WarGames match. As McIntyre and Jey continued to brawl, Breakker Speared Jey through the table.
Logan knocked Big Jim out with a big right hand, and Cody then entered the fray, battling both Logan and Drew. McIntyre finished him off with a Claymore. McIntyre then lined up Cody for a Tsunami by Reed, and Heyman handed McIntyre the WarGames contract, officially making him the fourth member of The Vision’s team for the WarGames match.
Result: No-contest
Grade: C
Match Insights & Backstage Moments:
- This was Reed’s first title match in over a year and his first-ever opportunity for the Undisputed WWE Title.
- In a video package before the main event, Zelina Vega and Aleister Black discussed how they felt they had successfully corrupted Damian Priest. Black declared that he was now set to become the enemy of the entire locker room, especially targeting those who held world titles.
