Cody Rhodes wins, LA Knight attacks Nakamura, WarGames buildup & more!

The 11/29 episode of Friday Night SmackDown was the Survivor Series go-home show as the Stamford-based promotion geared up for the PLE on Saturday. This week’s episode of the Blue brand picked up where last week’s episode left off, setting the stage for a thrilling showdown at the Rogers Arena this Saturday.

The 11/29 episode of Friday Night SmackDown was pre-taped following the 11/22 episode of the Blue brand. The November 22 episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown was telecasted live from the home of Utah Jazz, Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, U.S.A.

Get to know what happened this Friday, as we have the complete summary, highlights, results, and winner’s list for the 11/29 episode of WWE SmackDown.

WWE SmackDown Summary and Highlights

The promotion summarized the Bloodline saga and the developments from last week, including Paul Heyman and CM Punk’s return.

Bianca Belair, Noami, Iyo Sky, Bayley & Rhea Ripley

Belair, Naomi, Iyo Sky, Bayley, and Rhea Ripley kicked off the go-home show as they entered the arena to cut a promo for their upcoming clash at WarGames.

WWE recapped last week’s attack on Jade Cargill, Belair’s tag partner and Bayley replacing Cargill in the women’s WarGames match. Ripley had the mic as Mami addressed the crowd and stated that she knew not everyone on the team was friends, but it didn’t matter because, at WarGames, they all had feuds with someone on the other team.

Rhea then delivered a promo for WarGames, followed by Naomi, who promised her teammates that they would handle Team Morgan at WarGames.

Belair agreed and stated that one of them had taken out Cargill. They didn’t know which one yet, but they would take care of them at Survivor Series.

Liv Morgan‘s music hit as her team walked out. Morgan and Jax laughed at Ripley and the others, reminding them of their own issues with each other.

Women’s WarGames build-up

Naomi and Bayley reminded Jax how she had manipulated Tiffany, but Jax hit back, while Morgan reminded Bayley that she had lost her trust.

Morgan also pointed out the coincidence that Cargill had been attacked and now, suddenly, she was on the team.

Ripley interrupted and warned the World Champion that she would have nowhere to hide the next day, as she would have to face her. Morgan responded that she would finish the job this time, unlike last time when she broke Ripley’s face.

Ripley fired back, calling them out, but Morgan stated that they wouldn’t brawl the way Rhea wanted and walked away.

Team Ripley stepped out of the ring to chase down Team Morgan, and a brawl broke out as WWE security and officials tried to separate the two teams.

The opposing team of Liv Morgan, Nia Jax, Raquel Rodriguez, Tiffany Stratton, and Candice LeRae looked on as Team Ripley stood tall in the ring.

Andrade vs Shinsuke Nakamura

Back from commercials, former US title challenger Andrade made his way into the arena for the first match of the episode. Shinsuke Nakamura’s music hit as he made his way to the ring.

The bell rang, and the first match was underway as Nakamura and Andrade battled back and forth. Andrade landed a crossbody from the top rope. Nakamura hit a couple of knees, taking control of the match.

Andrade rolled up Shinsuke and went for the pinfall. Nakamura climbed to the top rope and lured Andrade in, but Andrade landed a dropkick to knock Nakamura outside the ring.

Andrade then landed a moonsault, taking out the Japanese star once again at ringside as the show rolled into commercials. Back from the commercial, Nakamura was in control as Andrade took down Shinsuke with a drop.

Andrade rallied the crowd and went for the attack, but Nakamura sent him flying outside the ring. Andrade kept his balance and landed on the edge.

Andrade and Nakamura fought on the top rope, with Andrade pushing Nakamura off to land a moonsault for a second attempt. Andrade landed a back elbow on Nakamura and tried for the cover, but Nakamura kicked out at two.

A striking masterclass was on display as Andrade picked up Nakamura for a suplex. Andrade landed a third suplex on the turnbuckle, rallying the crowd behind him.

Andrade charged at Nakamura, but Shinsuke exposed the turnbuckle, causing Andrade to absorb all the momentum. Nakamura landed a Kinshasa on Andrade and picked up the win in the first match.

After the match, the US Champion, LA Knight, attempted to return the favor and attacked Nakamura. However, the Japanese star evaded the attack and sprayed black mist into Knight’s eyes.

Nakamura then left the ring as officials rushed in to check on the champion, who was struggling with his vision.

Backstage

Solo Sikoa and the Bloodline were with Jacob Fatu, who was preparing for his advantage match against Jey Uso. Sikoa and the others motivated him for the upcoming match.

SmackDown’s General Manager Nick Aldis walked in to remind the rogue faction that tonight’s match was very important. Aldis informed the faction that everyone was banned from ringside during the advantage match.

Aldis then asked Sikoa if they would comply, and Sikoa assured the General Manager that the Bloodline wouldn’t interfere as Aldis left and the segment ended.

Backstage

Back from commercials, Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano were backstage as Ciampa stated that #DIY were not losers.

Johnny responded that things had changed, but Ciampa disagreed, insisting that Johnny’s friendship with Alex Shelley wasn’t more important than the title.

Gargano asked Ciampa to let him talk to Shelley one more time. Ciampa gave Johnny a one-week ultimatum, stating that after that, it would be his way.

Kevin Owens

Kevin Owens explained why he was right in his feud with Cody Rhodes. Kevin summarized how Roman Reigns attacked him three times in January at the Royal Rumble, but he kept getting back up.

Owens reminded everyone that Rhodes was in the building when he was getting superkicked repeatedly. He then recalled how, after all that, Rhodes teamed up with Reigns at Bad Blood. Owens sent a strong warning to the champion ahead of their clash at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Cody Rhodes vs Carmelo Hayes

Cody Rhodes’ music hit as he walked out for the second match against Carmelo Hayes. Back from commercials, Rhodes awaited Hayes, who made his way into the arena to take on the American Nightmare.

Hayes picked up the mic and stated that Owens was right—Rhodes did turn his back on him. Hayes then declared that you don’t need an enemy when you’ve got a friend like Rhodes.

The bell rang as Rhodes and Hayes locked horns in the middle of the ring. The American Nightmare was ready to teach Hayes a lesson, while Hayes was looking for one of the biggest wins of his career. Cody attempted to strike Hayes, but Hayes dodged it.

The two then engaged in a lock-up. Hayes pushed Cody away and then locked him in a headlock, but Cody managed to break free. Cody went for another strike, but Hayes evaded it again. On his next attempt, Cody finally landed the hit.

Back from the commercial, Rhodes and Hayes battled on the top rope as Cody picked up Hayes and landed a stalling vertical superplex drop from the top.

Rhodes was in control of the fight when Hayes landed a facebuster, showcasing his speed, and went for the cover, but Cody kicked out at two.

Rhodes then locked Hayes in a figure-four leg lock as the champion looked for a finish, but Hayes reached the ropes to break the submission.

Rhodes and Hayes exchanged elbows and punches in the middle of the ring as Rhodes tried for a flying move from the middle turnbuckle. Rhodes’ injured leg gave way, and Hayes capitalized, taking down the champion.

Amid ‘Cody’ chants, Carmelo went to the top rope, but Cody ducked underneath and caught Hayes. Rhodes landed the Cody Cutter, and the crowd roared as the champion hit Cross Rhodes to pick up the win in the second match against Hayes. Rhodes celebrated his victory as the referee checked on Carmelo.

Roman Reigns & CM Punk segment with Paul Heyman

Paul Heyman was with Roman Reigns as they waited for CM Punk. Reigns asked the Wiseman where Punk was. Punk walked in and stated that he didn’t have a lot of time, declaring that he showed up for Heyman, not the OTC.

Roman responded that he didn’t need Punk’s help, to which Punk replied that he was there for Heyman. Reigns stated that he didn’t like Punk’s tone, his attitude, or him in general.

Reigns declared that he didn’t want to team with Punk for WarGames. Heyman reminded Roman of the situation they are in against Sikoa’s Bloodline. Heyman also reminded Punk that if he didn’t help Reigns, Sikoa would finish off the OG faction and then come after Punk.

The Wiseman reminded them that divided, they would all fall, but united, they would survive. Punk reiterated that he was there for Heyman and wanted revenge for what Sikoa did to his friend, adding that he was willing to discuss this again after Survivor Series.

Reigns and Punk reiterated ‘one time’ and ‘one favor.’ The OTC stated that he owed Punk a favor, but Punk disagreed, saying that ‘our Wiseman’ would owe them a favor instead.

Punk then walked away as Reigns asked Heyman about the favor. Heyman told the OTC to get through WarGames first, then they would talk about it all.

Michin vs Piper Niven vs Lash Legend – Women’s U.S. Title Tournament

Piper Niven was the first to make the walk for the third match of the evening. Lash Legend was the second entrant, having replaced Jade Cargill in the tournament. Michin was the last to make her way to the ring as the triple-threat action got underway.

Michin used her quickness, but Niven caught her with a crossbody and went for the cover. Legend broke the cover, picking up Niven, but Michin landed a dropkick, taking out both. Michin then took out Lash, lining up Niven and Legend for a moonsault on the outside.

Chelsea Green, who was ringside for her friend Piper Niven, attacked Michin, and B-Fab walked in. Green and B-Fab continued to brawl near the entrance as Legend capitalized on the distraction, landing a brutal kick on Niven, who was focused on Green. Back from commercials, Piper Niven was in control, taking out Legend with a collision.

Niven climbed to the second rope and landed a huge splash, going for the cover, but Michin broke it up just in time. Legend and Michin battled, with Legend taking out Michin. Niven tried to intervene but ate a chokeslam from Lash.

Michin took advantage as Legend was busy arguing with the official, but Legend regained control, landing a powerbomb and going for the cover.

Niven and Michin fought on the top rope as Niven tried for the Piper Driver. Legend broke up the attempt and climbed the ropes, but Niven pushed her off and went for a drop.

Legend ducked and landed her own move to take advantage, but Michin broke the cover with a dropkick and went for the cover on Niven. Michin advanced to the semi-finals of the tournament, joining Bayley and Chelsea Green.

Backstage

Back from commercials, officials checked on LA Knight as Byron Saxton walked in to ask the champion about his upcoming title defense at Survivor Series.

Knight lost his calm, sending a strong warning to the challenger. He declared that he was going to remain the US Champion and promised to drop Nakamura on his head, with everyone shouting, “LA Knight, Yeah!”

Backstage

Jey Uso was preparing for his match as Sami Zayn and Jimmy Uso rallied him up for the clash. GM Nick Aldis walked in, reminding them that he had already told Sikoa, and now he was telling them as well that everyone was banned from the arena during the WarGames advantage match.

The Usos and Zayn complied, bidding Jey good luck for his match against Fatu. Jey Uso was the first to make his entrance for the final match of the night.

Jey Uso vs Jacob Fatu – Men’s War Games Advantage Match

Jacob Fatu was the second to make the walk for his first singles match in WWE. The bell rang, and the WarGames advantage match got underway. Jey and Fatu exchanged blows, with Jacob taking control of the fight and yelling, “I love you, Solo!” Fatu landed multiple kicks near the ropes as officials intervened.

Jey fought back, kicking Fatu outside the ring. He went for a suicide dive, but Fatu caught him midway and threw him into the ring post. Fatu then threw Jey toward the announcer’s desk as the match rolled into commercials.

Back from the break, Jey tried to fight back, but Fatu overpowered him, landing a headbutt and then picking him up for a Samoan drop.

Jey countered, sending Fatu shoulder-first into the ring post. Fatu, enraged, charged again at Jey, but Jey ducked, causing Fatu to crash shoulder-first into the ring post once more.

The former IC Champion rallied the crowd behind him, landing a kick to Fatu’s ear and following it up with a hip attack near the ring post.

Fatu landed an implant DDT followed by a springboard moonsault from the top rope to pick up the win in the WarGames advantage match. Solo Sikoa’s Bloodline now holds the advantage going into the WarGames clash.
