The Night of Champions fallout edition of Friday Night SmackDown was pre-taped. In the aftermath of the PLE, WWE delivered the June 29 edition of Monday Night Raw from the Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The show aired early at 6 PM ET / 3 PM PT, as WWE held a double taping at the venue. The promotion taped the July 3 edition of SmackDown at the venue after Raw’s conclusion. Notably, this week’s SmackDown will return to the two-hour format after reverting to the three-hour format in January.

Similar to last week’s show, this week’s show was also pre-taped as the show joins the Red brand and kicks off the build towards SummerSlam. Below are the spoilers for the July 3 edition of WWE SmackDown from Atlantic City.

WWE SmackDown 7/3 Spoilers

  • The show opened with the WWE Undisputed Champion Sami Zayn to a mixed reaction. He talked about being booed for the past six months and called fans hypocrites for wanting to see him as champion before. He said he won’t tell those hypocrites to kiss his ass because he is a good guy and won the title the right way.
    • Cody eventually came out, and Sami asked Cody what he wanted to talk about. Cody said that as Sami was the first to congratulate him, he wanted to be the first to congratulate Sami. They shook hands. Cody wanted to leave, and Sami asked if that was it. Sami said he has what Cody wants.
    • Jey Uso then came out (full Main Event and the opposite of Raw) to congratulate Sami as well. He said he is proud of Sami and said Sami knows why he’s here, to give him a warning shot. He needs to bring the title back to the family. Cody interrupted and asked Jey when his friend became an errand boy for Roman.
    • Sami cut Cody off and said it’s his time, and to Jey, as far as he is concerned, it’s in the family. He told both of them to stay away. Adam Pearce came out as acting GM for Smackdown, and his job is to find a challenger for Sami. Sami asked if he had a say in his opponent for Summerslam. Adam replied, who said anything about Summerslam. It’s Jey vs Cody tonight, with the winner facing Sami Monday on Raw.
  • Cathy Kelley interviewed Charlotte backstage, who spoke about Jade. Alexa Bliss came in, and they teased tension between them, which led to Tiffany Stratton and Chelsea being brought into the mix to discuss their six-woman tag.
  • Jade, Michin, and B Fab defeated Charlotte Flair, Chelsea Green, and Tiffany Stratton when Jade pinned Chelsea after Jaded. Chelsea got a big pop with the hot tag and put in a great effort.
  • A replay of the Gunther and Nick Aldis scuffle at Night of Champions aired. Sami tried to convince Adam to reverse his decision about defending his title on Raw, which didn’t work. He then went over to Johnny Gargano for his latest soliloquy.
  • Rey Fenix retained the AAA Cruiserweight title, defeating El Hijo del Vikingo in the match of the night with the Mexican Muscle Buster.
  • Backstage interview with Guilia, who discussed the attack from Blake Monroe. Kiana James came out, which allowed Blake to attack both women.
  • Backstage segment with Jimmy Uso, Jacob Fatu, and Royce Keys
  • Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes segment to set up for a non-title match next week.
  • Danhausen segment in his mad laboratory with Miz, Kit Wilson, and Matt Cardona. Per Fightful, Danhausen vs JD McDonagh is planned for July 18, Saturday Night’s Main Event in MSG.
  • Laney Reid pinned Brie Bella after Brie was distracted by Fatal Influence beating up Paige
  • Cody and Finn segment backstage, where Finn said he came to Smackdown to face him for the title, so go win it again. After, the Talla Tonga and Tama Tonga attacked Balor.
  • Cody Rhodes defeated Jey Uso to become the number 1 contender to the Undisputed Championship. Sami Zayn will defend the title in a rematch against Cody on the July 6 edition of Raw in Chicago.
