WWE SmackDown SPOILERS 9/4 (Taped on August 28, 2026 in Cleveland, Ohio)

This article contains SPOILERS for next week’s SmackDown.

Following Monday’s post-Raw SmackDown taping in Ottawa, Ontario, on August 24, WWE held another taping on August 28, this time taping both the August 31 edition of Raw and the September 4 edition of SmackDown at Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.

The show picked up from this week, which saw Nikki Bella return to attack Paige, while Sami Zayn attacked Kevin Owens, Finn Balor, and Gunther, causing the Undisputed WWE Title number one contenders match to end in a no contest. He even laid out Champion CM Punk, who came out to attack Sami.

Last week’s show also saw Nia Jax pin WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green and demand a title match against the injured Champion.

WWE SmackDown (September 4, 2026): Spoilers

• Danhausen appeared for a segment that may have been exclusive to the live crowd. He came out to uncurse the Cleveland Cavaliers, took shots at the Pittsburgh Steelers, and also uncursed the Browns, joking, “It took A LOT of human monies for that one.”
• Gunther came out in street clothes and called out Sami Zayn, who appeared from the crowd. Zayn said the Undisputed WWE Champion should be a good guy and not a “snake in the grass” like CM Punk. He claimed nobody should receive a title shot before him. Gunther went after Zayn, leading Finn Balor to come out and chase Zayn into the ring, while Kevin Owens appeared and forced Zayn to retreat.
• CM Punk was backstage speaking with Nick Aldis before noticing Johnny Gargano lying on a crate. Punk gave Gargano a pep talk and offered him an Undisputed WWE Championship match. Gargano got up and accepted.
• Non-Title match: Charlotte Flair and Tatum Paxley defeated Women’s Tag Team Champions Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid. The Baddies attacked and laid out both teams after the match.
• Highlights from “last Friday’s” SmackDown were shown, which is tonight’s airing.
• Nikki Bella was being interviewed when Paige interrupted. Paige told Bella, “I built my career on hustle, loyalty, and respect; you just slept with it.” A match between the two was announced for SmackDown in Mexico City.
• Nick Aldis was in the ring with WWE’s doctor and called Chelsea Green out. Green said she didn’t care what the doctor had to say and that she had waited 13 years for this moment. The doctor cleared Green to compete as long as she wears a protective face mask.
  • Nia Jax and Lash Legend then came out, with Jax demanding a title match. Tiffany Stratton interrupted, and Aldis announced that Jax would receive her title opportunity on SmackDown in Mexico City. He then set up a match between Jax and Stratton.
• Nia Jax defeated Tiffany Stratton. Chelsea Green consoled Stratton after the match.
• The Miz and Kit Wilson came out, with Miz cutting a promo for the live crowd about celebrating his 20th year in WWE. The crowd responded with a “Thank you” chant, but Miz turned heel on them, saying his greatest accomplishment was leaving Cleveland and that he would rather celebrate in Philadelphia with LeBron.
• Bakusai (Shinsuke Nakamura & Kyoki) defeated The Miz & Kit Wilson in a longer match. The MFTs then came out alongside Haku and had a staredown with Bakusai.
• Blake Monroe was being interviewed by Cathy Kelley when Giulia attacked her. The two brawled into the arena, with Giulia standing tall.
• Sami Zayn gave Johnny Gargano another pep talk backstage and got Gargano to promise that he would give Zayn the first title shot if Gargano won.
• Undisputed WWE Championship match: CM Punk defeated Johnny Gargano. Gargano entered to his “Rebel Heart” theme, while Punk wore Browns colors to draw boos from the crowd. The match featured interference involving Kevin Owens, Gunther, Finn Balor, and Sami Zayn. Punk eventually won with the GTS and then told Zayn that he would receive a title shot.
• After the cameras stopped rolling, Punk praised Gargano. Zayn then attacked Punk, prompting Cody Rhodes to make the save. Zayn took a Cross Rhodes and a GTS before the crowd was sent home happy.
