Rey Fenix wants WWE Intercontinental title shot; calls out brother Penta

Rey Fenix publicly called for a bigger opportunity in WWE as brother Penta continues thriving as Intercontinental Champion on WWE RAW.

Penta has rapidly become one of the breakout stars of WWE Raw, cementing himself as a top babyface and dominant WWE Intercontinental Champion.

Since arriving in WWE, Penta has defeated major names such as Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor, and Kofi Kingston. His momentum only grew after successfully retaining the Intercontinental Championship in a chaotic Ladder Match at WrestleMania 42.

Now, Penta is set to defend the championship against Ethan Page at Saturday Night’s Main Event later this month.

Rey Fenix frustrated over lack of opportunities

While Penta continues to rise, Rey Fenix has experienced a much different run on WWE SmackDown.

Since joining WWE in 2025, Fenix has struggled to gain momentum. He has lost half of his televised matches and currently remains outside any major storyline direction on the blue brand.

After WWE announced Penta’s upcoming title defense, Fenix reacted publicly on social media, hinting at frustration over his current position in the company.

“I love my brother, but I will like to have my chance. #AN1M0,” Fenix wrote.

The post immediately sparked discussion among fans, many of whom believe Fenix deserves a stronger push given his reputation and in-ring ability. His last televised singles match came in February 2026, when he lost to Trick Williams on SmackDown.

Could The Lucha Brothers reunite in WWE?

Before joining WWE, Penta and Rey Fenix formed one of the most celebrated tag teams in modern wrestling history as The Lucha Brothers.

Together, they captured championships across major promotions including ROH, AAA, and AEW. Many fans expected the duo to reunite immediately after arriving in WWE, but both stars have instead focused on singles competition.

Back in March 2026, Penta spoke about the possibility of teaming with Fenix again during an interview with SA Live.

The Intercontinental Champion stated that he hopes to work alongside his brother again someday, though he admitted he was unsure when that reunion could happen.

For now, Penta continues dominating on RAW, while Rey Fenix searches for the opportunity that could finally elevate him on SmackDown.
