Dominik Mysterio is having one of the best WWE Intercontinental Championship runs of all time

Dominik Mysterio continues to find ways to escape with his Intercontinental Championship intact. On the latest episode of RAW, he managed to outsmart Rusev controversially, using a low blow and a roll-up to retain his title. The win cemented “Dirty” Dom’s reputation as one of WWE’s most despised villains.

But the manner of his victory has also raised questions about how long he can realistically hold on to the belt. Sooner or later, someone will catch him slipping, and the Intercontinental Championship could change hands. Here are three names that stand out as legitimate candidates to dethrone him.

3. Rey Mysterio

The father-son rivalry that shocked the wrestling world may not be over just yet. Dominik’s betrayal of Rey Mysterio ignited his rise, but it also left unfinished business between them. The Hall of Famer has never truly gotten closure, and Dominik’s arrogance has only made the family feud more personal.

Rey could make one final run at the Intercontinental Championship, looking to humble his son once and for all. Such a story would be perfect for a grand stage, perhaps even WrestleMania, where Rey could either reclaim the legacy of the Mysterio name or pass the torch in a retirement bout. Either way, a Rey vs Dom showdown for the IC Title would be unforgettable.

2. Rusev

The Bulgarian Brute has wasted little time making his presence felt since returning to WWE earlier this year. His clash with Dominik Mysterio on RAW showed he still has the power and intensity to dominate in big matches. Although he fell short, the circumstances of his loss make it clear this rivalry is far from over.

The controversial ending opens the door for a rematch, possibly with higher stakes or stricter rules to prevent “Dirty” Dom from pulling the same tricks again. If that happens, Rusev’s brute strength and veteran edge could finally bring him the Intercontinental Title. Fans are already eager to see him get another shot.

1. Finn Balor

The Judgment Day has shown signs of crumbling for months, with Finn Balor’s relationship with Dominik growing increasingly strained. Once the man chasing the Intercontinental Championship himself, Balor has watched as his stablemate stole the spotlight. That betrayal lingers, and the tension between the two only seems to be building.

Balor could very well be the one to turn on Mysterio when the time is right. A heated rivalry inside The Judgment Day would create compelling television, especially if it revolved around championship gold. Balor’s experience and in-ring skill make him more than capable of taking the IC Title from his younger ally.

Who did Dominik Mysterio recently defend his Intercontinental Championship against?

Dominik defended his title against Rusev on RAW, winning through a low blow and roll-up.

Is The Judgment Day breaking up?

Tensions within the group are rising, with Finn Balor and Dominik Mysterio clashing over the spotlight. This could lead to the stable’s breakup.

Could Rey Mysterio face his son again?

Yes, Rey may return for one final rivalry with Dominik, possibly challenging for the Intercontinental Championship in a high-stakes match.
