The 2025 edition of WWE SummerSlam created history as the first-ever two-night PLE, a format earlier only reserved for WrestleMania. The night one edition of the show took place on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, U.S.A.
The 2025 edition featured stars from both Raw and SmackDown brands and became the first SummerSlam PLE to stream on Netflix. Adding star power to the blockbuster weekend, rap icon Cardi B acted as the official hostess of WWE SummerSlam.

WWE SummerSlam 2025 night one Summary and Highlights
Roman Reigns & Jey Uso vs Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed – Tag Team match
In the first match of the show, the team of Roman Reigns and Jey Uso took on Paul Heyman’s enforcers in Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker. Reigns and Jey incurred heavy offense from the get-go from Breakker and Reed. However, the veterans turned it around in the final moments as Reigns sacrificed himself, taking the full brunt of the spear by Breakker, while Jey delivered the Uso splash to pin Bronson Reed.
Winner: Roman Reigns & Jey Uso

Judgment Day’s Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez defended the Women’s Tag titles for the third time against the team of Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss. Flair suffered a brutal double-team beatdown, but managed to tag in Bliss, who picked up the face in the latter half of the match.
Bliss accidentally took out Flair while attacking Rodriguez, but the two managed to fight through. In the closing moments of the match, Flair took out Rodriguez with a big boot while Bliss hit Perez with Sister Abigail to pick up the win and become the new Women’s Tag Team Champions.
Winner: Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss

Kross tried to capitalize on the distraction but Sami landed the blue thunder bomb, followed by the helluva kick to pick up the win in the trilogy.

WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton put the title on the line against the winner of the 2025 Queen of the Ring tournament, Jade Cargill. Cargill was looking to capture her first singles title in the WWE, while Tiffany wanted to defend the title successfully for the 7th time.
Cargill came out strong and tried to gain an upper hand with the physical advantage she had. Cargill even hit the jaded but failed to make the pin properly as Tiffany’s leg touched the ropes, which made the referee call off the pin. Jade went for Jaded from the top rope, but Stratton countered to land the prettiest moonsault ever to pin Cargill.

Jelly Roll, irked by Paul’s tactics and a cheap shot, tagged himself in during the opening moments and managed to do well until Logan tagged in McIntyre. The fans were going wild as the country star, despite his size and lack of experience, managed to deliver decent moves.
Logan took out Jelly Roll through the announce desk with a splash from the top rope, and the country star was being taken backstage by the medic team, leaving Orton alone in the ring.
However, Jelly refused to abandon Orton and returned to the match, taking out Paul with a chokeslam. McIntyre then landed a Claymore to take Jelly out. Despite Orton hitting an RKO, Paul sent him crashing into the ring post and followed up with a frog splash to pin Jelly Roll and secure the win.

The move cost Gunther, as he was left with a busted nose, as he looked for a time out, Punk attacked.
Gunther managed to lock in the sleeper hold, but Punk turned it around to land two back-to-back GTS to pin the Champion and realise his dream after 12 years of holding the World title once again.

CM Punk (c) vs Seth Rollins – World Heavyweight Championship match (Seth’s MITB cash-in)
CM Punk was celebrating his title win when Seth Rollins’ music hit, and he made his way to the ring, accompanied by Paul Heyman. Rollins pointed at the Money in the Bank briefcase, sending a clear message, reminding Punk to enjoy the title while he still could.
As he turned to leave, Rollins suddenly dropped the crutches and removed the brace, sprinting toward the ring with the briefcase in hand. The two collided as Punk attempted the GTS, but Rollins countered and attacked Punk with the briefcase, relentlessly hammering it down on him. Rollins then cashed in the briefcase, delivered the Stomp, and pinned Punk to become the new World Heavyweight Champion.
