WWE SummerSlam 2025 Results: Dominik Mysterio lies, cheats & steals Eddie Guerrero style against AJ Styles

Dominik Mysterio outsmarts AJ Styles to pick up the win!

Dominik Mysterio continues to find ways to escape with gold around his waist, and at WWE SummerSlam 2025 Night 2, the self-proclaimed heir to greatness walked out still Intercontinental Champion. Despite being pushed to the absolute limit by AJ Styles, Dominik used cunning, distractions, and dirty tactics to leave MetLife Stadium with the title intact.

The bout started with Mysterio retreating and re-entering the ring to stall momentum. Playing possum early, he feigned a back injury and lured Styles into the corner, only to pepper him with boots and mounted punches. Dominik then took a break to pose, but Styles quickly turned the tide with a tornado DDT and a signature sliding forearm.

The match hit full throttle when Styles landed a Ushigoroshi for a near fall, followed by a Pele Kick. Dominik countered the Phenomenal Forearm and hit a well-timed Michinoku Driver for a two-count. He looked to land the Three Amigos, but Styles countered the final suplex with a vicious brainbuster, shifting momentum again.

AJ Styles locks in the Calf Killer, Mysterio escapes

AJ fought back with a 619 of his own before Dominik tried to steal one with a Frog Splash. Styles got his boots up and trapped Mysterio in the Calf Killer, wrenching the leg back in the middle of the ring. The crowd roared as Dominik screamed in pain, crawling toward the ropes. Somehow, he managed to reach them and break the hold, only barely.

From there, Mysterio turned to more devious tactics. He untied a turnbuckle pad, distracting referee Eddie Orengo, then grabbed a steel chair. In a nod to his late father figure Eddie Guerrero, Dominik tossed the chair to Styles and dropped to the mat, faking a shot to the head. But Styles smartly fell too, confusing the referee and avoiding disqualification.

Dominik Mysterio steals the win

As the match heated up again, Styles crotched Dominik on the ropes and looked poised to hit something big. Mysterio recovered with a quick throat thrust, but Styles again trapped him in the Calf Killer. With nowhere to go, Dominik shockingly slipped out of his own boot to break free, drawing gasps from the crowd.

Moments later, Styles accidentally clobbered the referee during a reversal. The distraction was all Dominik needed. He grabbed his removed boot, apparently loaded, and clocked Styles with it. Climbing the ropes, Mysterio nailed a picture-perfect Frog Splash.

Winner: Dominik Mysterio wins by pinfall, retaining the WWE Intercontinental Championship in a chaotic and controversial finish.
