Zayn started the match with energy and intent, rushing Kross and cornering him with shoulder blocks. Kross quickly turned the tables with a series of heavy strikes, but Sami remained composed. Back inside the ring, Kross caught him with a vicious Death Valley Driver, but the resilient Canadian kicked out. Kross launched from the top rope with a diving ax handle, but Zayn responded by ducking under and trying for a Blue Thunder Bomb. Kross reversed it into a nasty suplex and nearly ended it there. But Zayn wasn’t done yet. After surviving a Saito Suplex, he turned up the aggression and battled back with a huge lariat.

As the match neared its climax, Scarlett Bordeaux attempted to slide Kross a steel pipe, hoping to tip the scales. Sami intercepted the weapon, holding it mid-ring. But in a key moment of character, Zayn threw the pipe aside, refusing to stoop to Kross’ level. It was the moral high ground in physical form.

Kross tried to capitalize with a surprise roll-up, but Zayn escaped. Moments later, he exploded with an exploder suplex into the corner, charged in, and nailed Kross with a devastating Helluva Kick. That was all she wrote.

Sami Zayn won by pinfall, leaving Karrion Kross no choice but to admit he had misjudged him, a fitting end to one of SummerSlam’s most personal showdowns.
