Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton trade brutal blows in heated encounter
Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton finally settled their score at WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event in a chaotic encounter that featured interference, two referees, blood and a dramatic finish.
Rhodes wasted no time after the bell, hitting a Cody Cutter before applying a Figure Four Leglock in the middle of the ring. Orton escaped and moved to the apron, where Cody attempted a hanging DDT. Randy countered and briefly retreated to the floor.
Orton regained control by choking Cody in the ropes and stomping him on the apron. Rhodes fired back with punches but ran into a back elbow. Randy followed with a suplex and hung Cody in the ropes before a hip toss brought Rhodes back inside.
A reverse chinlock slowed the pace before Orton hit a back suplex. Cody landed on his feet, slapped down at Randy and connected with a lariat that sent Orton to the floor.

Rhodes gave chase, but Orton responded with a thumb to the eye. The two exchanged strikes before Orton took Cody down with mounted punches, only for Rhodes to reverse the position and unload with punches of his own.
At ringside, Orton hit two back suplexes on Cody into the announce desk. Randy then decided to antagonize Cody’s wife and mother again, but Brandi Rhodes responded by throwing her drink in Orton’s face.
Back inside, Cody blocked a punch and fired back before hitting a snap scoop powerslam. Rhodes followed with turning jabs and the Bionic Elbow, but Orton answered with an eye poke.
Randy connected with lariats, another snap scoop powerslam and a hanging DDT. He prepared for the RKO, but Cody blocked it and hit Cross Rhodes. Orton survived the cover.
The action became increasingly chaotic. Cody Cutter was countered, the RKO was denied again and a backslide nearly caught Orton. Rhodes escaped another RKO attempt, but the referee was caught in the corner. Orton finally connected with the RKO, but there was nobody available to make the count.

Cody was left on his hands and knees as Orton appeared ready to deliver the Punt. Rhodes sidestepped the attack and connected with Cross Rhodes.
Orton rolled to the apron and then to the floor, while referee Charles Robinson was wiped out again. Cody smashed Randy’s face into the ring post before punching him against the announce desk and repeatedly yelling, “show me your worst.”
Rhodes then used the steel steps as a weapon, striking Orton and opening a wound on his face. Cody continued punching the bloody wound before sending Randy back inside.
A double-jump Cody Cutter connected, followed by a Cross Rhodes. Cody held on and delivered a second Cross Rhodes, leaving Orton down on all fours.
Rhodes went for another attack, but Orton collapsed and begged him to stop. He asked Cody to “please look at him” and begged him to forgive him. Cody refused and swatted Randy away.
Referee Eddie Orengo entered to check on Orton and officiate the match. Cody gently pulled Orengo away from Randy, only for Orton to strike both Rhodes and Orengo in the gentleman’s area.
Orton then struck with an RKO seemingly out of nowhere. Charles Robinson had recovered and made the count.
Winner: Randy Orton defeated Cody Rhodes by pinfall with the RKO.
