WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event Results: Trick Williams dethrones Baron Corbin to win US Title after Lil Yachty survives five-minute challenge

Lil Yachty survived five-minute challenge to earn Trick Williams a title opportunity!

Baron Corbin put Lil Yachty through a brutal five-minute challenge on WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event, with the rapper fighting for more than just his own survival. The stipulation was simple: if Yachty could last five minutes against the United States Champion, his friend Trick Williams would receive a title match later in the night.

Before the opening bell, Corbin gave Yachty one final opportunity to walk away. Corbin reminded him that this was his hometown, with his family and friends watching, and warned him that he could end up covered in blood and ruin his “nice new clothes.”

Yachty paused as he searched for his response, before answering in the only way he could — by punching Corbin. The bell rang, and the challenge was officially underway.

Yachty immediately went for a schoolboy pin, but Corbin kicked out at two. Yachty then escaped to the floor, hoping to run down the clock, but Corbin quickly cut him off and launched him into the barricade.

Corbin cleared the announce desk and looked ready to inflict even more punishment. However, Yachty’s friends intervened, helping him over the barricade and into the crowd. Corbin responded by attacking them, throwing both men over the barricade and back into the ringside area.

The chaos continued as Corbin brought Yachty back inside. Corbin was bleeding from the ear, but with three minutes remaining, Yachty suddenly gained momentum by hitting the champion with Trick Williams’ signature Trick Stick.

Yachty followed with more kendo stick shots before an axhandle caught him off guard. His friends returned to the ring, only for one of them to fall victim to Deep Six and the other to End of Days.

With the clock continuing to tick down, Yachty mounted another comeback. He connected with a boot in the corner, followed by an avalanche Frankensteiner and a diving crossbody. His next cover came incredibly close to ending the contest.

Corbin eventually regained control and hit End of Days with roughly 90 seconds remaining. Instead of immediately trying to finish Yachty, however, Corbin chose to punish him, unloading with grounded punches.

Corbin then hit a short-arm End of Days and went underneath the ring, retrieving a table. He set it up in the ring before taking Yachty to the turnbuckles and climbing up after him.

With only seconds remaining, Yachty fought back. He delivered an uppercut to Corbin in the gentleman’s area with just five seconds left on the clock.

Lil Yachty survived the five-minute time limit, earning Trick Williams a United States Championship match against Corbin later that night.

The celebration was short-lived. After the challenge, Corbin slammed Yachty through the table, but Trick Williams immediately stormed into the ring. The United States Championship match was happening right away.

Williams opened aggressively, hitting Corbin with two side kicks before clotheslining him out of the ring. He then smashed Corbin’s head against the commentary table twice while checking on Yachty.

Corbin used the distraction to strike Trick with a forearm and throw him into the ringpost. He then sent Yachty into the timekeeper’s area, creating an opening for Trick to launch a diving attack.

Back inside, Trick hit a flapjack and followed with “Trick-Slapped” strikes in the corner. His “Whoop That” stomps were followed by a modified Death Valley Driver for a two-count.

Corbin eventually shifted the momentum, sending Trick from the apron to the floor with a running attack before throwing him into the steel steps. Back in the ring, Corbin punished Trick with back elbows, clubbing strikes and a clothesline before scoring another near fall.

Trick escaped a chin lock and the two men traded strikes after a double clothesline. Williams eventually gained the advantage with a jumping neckbreaker, while Corbin answered a spinning kick with a chokeslam.

Trick hit a standing Book-End, but Corbin survived. The champion then sidestepped a Trick Shot and connected with Deep Six, yet even that was not enough to put Williams away.

The closing moments descended into chaos. Corbin attempted to use the championship belt, but Yachty grabbed the other end of the strap. Corbin won the tug-of-war, only to spin directly into Trick’s Cyclone Kill.

Corbin still had the championship belt and eventually struck Trick with it while referee Ryan Tran was distracted by Yachty. But Williams refused to stay down.

Trick countered a short-arm End of Days, landed on his feet and came off the ropes. This time, there was no escape.

Trick Williams defeated Baron Corbin by pinfall with Trick Shot to become the new WWE Men’s United States Champion.
