Atlanta hosts a historic first-ever Sunday edition of the NBC special WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.
WWE’s Sunday Night’s Main Event returns for September 2026, but with a scheduling twist — for the first time in the show’s history, the special will air on a Sunday rather than its traditional Saturday slot. Billed as Sunday Night’s Main Event, the 46th overall episode will take place on September 6 during Labor Day weekend, live from State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
The move fills the gap between SummerSlam and Money in the Bank, with the date originally earmarked for Money in the Bank before that premium live event was pushed to October 10 in New Orleans. Atlanta previously hosted the show in July 2025, when Gunther defeated and retired WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg in the final match of his career.
This time around, there’s no retirement bout, but the stakes are just as high, with Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton renewing hostilities and a same-night title opportunity hanging in the balance. Atlanta native Quavo will also open the show with a live performance. The event will stream on Peacock in the United States and on YouTube in most international markets, while Indian fans can catch the action on Sony LIV.

Cody Rhodes vs Randy Orton
Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton will collide once again, this time away from championship gold but with 20 years of history fuelling the animosity. Orton made a shocking return at SummerSlam, hitting Rhodes with an RKO that cost him his Undisputed WWE Championship match against CM Punk.
The two brawled all over the arena on the August 14 edition of SmackDown, after which Rhodes demanded a match in his hometown and GM Nick Aldis obliged, officially confirming the bout for Atlanta. It marks their first meeting since WrestleMania 42, where Rhodes retained the Undisputed title against Orton.
Oba Femi vs Bron Breakker
Fresh off his win over Brock Lesnar inside Hell in a Cell at SummerSlam, Oba Femi finally has a challenger willing to step up.
Bron Breakker called out Femi on the August 17 episode of Raw, and while Femi answered, it was Paul Heyman who confirmed the showdown had been sanctioned by GM Adam Pearce for Sunday Night’s Main Event. The two have crossed paths in tense face-offs before, but this will be their first one-on-one encounter.
Baron Corbin (c) vs Lil Yachty – Five-minute challenge for the WWE United States Championship
United States Champion Baron Corbin has repeatedly turned away Trick Williams’ title challenges, with rapper Lil Yachty at ringside each time to help even the odds.
On the August 21 edition of SmackDown in Toronto, Corbin proposed a five-minute survival challenge against Yachty himself in Atlanta — if Yachty lasts the full five minutes, Williams earns a same-night title shot against Corbin. Yachty accepted, setting up an unconventional showdown to open the door for Williams.
Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss & Tatum Paxley vs Jade Cargill, Michin & B-Fab
A six-woman tag team match rounds out the card, with Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss and Tatum Paxley squaring off against Jade Cargill, Michin and B-Fab.
The addition gives Paxley a significant opportunity alongside two decorated former champions, while Cargill’s trio looks to make a statement heading into the fall stretch of the calendar.
Quavo to perform live in his hometown
Atlanta-born rapper Quavo will open Sunday Night’s Main Event with a live performance of an unreleased track off his upcoming album, QROMELIFE.
A lifelong wrestling fan, Quavo previously provided the official theme for WWE Day 1 2022 with Migos’ “Straightenin,” appeared ringside at Bad Blood, and featured on Raw alongside Jey Uso in January 2025.
