John Cena faced Dominik Mysterio for his second-to-last match before his retirement!
The Goodyear Blimp circled overhead as Survivor Series broadcast a star-studded crowd at Petco Park. Lil Yachty, Adriel Favela, Andy Ruiz, and Padres pitcher Jeremiah Estrada looked on as AAA Mega Champion “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio made his entrance to a thunderous hometown ovation, flanked by Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez.
After a dramatic pause, John Cena emerged to one of the biggest reactions of his career. Calling this his final WWE PLE and final time on ESPN, Cena greeted fans, checked on Stu the Cameraman, and shouted out Stu’s son working cable for the first time. “It’s good to have him here,” Cena said before sprinting toward the ring for his 177th and final PLE match.
Dominik Mysterio fakes injury
The match began with John Cena grabbing early control through grappling, but Dominik Mysterio and his ringside allies quickly shifted the momentum. Rodriguez punched Cena behind the referee’s back, allowing Mysterio to hit the full Three Amigos to chants of “Eddie.” Mysterio repeatedly taunted the crowd and smashed Cena into the barricade, commentary table, and apron.
Playing possum, Mysterio attempted a flying hurricanrana off the barricade and appeared to crash hard on his head and shoulder. Medics arrived, but the injury was a ruse. As they checked on Cena, Rodriguez hit a Tejana Bomb, Perez delivered Pop Rox, and the “injured” Mysterio sprang up to nail a 619 and Frog Splash. Referee Chad Patton refused to count, ejecting Perez and Rodriguez, much to Mysterio’s disbelief.
Cena roared back with shoulder tackles, a back suplex powerbomb, and a final PLE 5-Knuckle Shuffle. A dramatic exchange of counters followed, including a near fall after Mysterio’s 619–Frog Splash combination and another after Cena’s Attitude Adjustment.
Liv Morgan returns to help Dominik Mysterio
Things unraveled when John Cena accidentally took out Patton with a missed shoulder tackle. With the referee down, Finn Balor and JD McDonagh stormed the ring. Cena fought them off and delivered a stunning DOUBLE Attitude Adjustment.
At ringside, Mysterio grabbed the Intercontinental Title, but Cena countered with another AA. With no referee available, Liv Morgan made a shocking return. Pretending to embrace Mysterio before slapping him, she suddenly turned, leaping into Cena’s arms and low-blowing him.
Liv Morgan smashed Cena with the title, Mysterio hit another 619 and Frog Splash, and Patton was rolled back in to make the three-count. Dominik Mysterio is the new WWE Intercontinental Champion, ending John Cena’s legendary PLE career.
Winner: Dominik Mysterio
