The promotion could bring back the star on January 6
Former TNA Digital Media Champion, Joe Hendry made an appearance via a pre-recorded video on the 12/31 episode of WWE NXT. The developmental brand announced the 2024 Year-End Awards on the final show of the year.
The Scottish star’s arrival in NXT was awarded the Moment of the Year, Hendry made his WWE in-ring debut on June 18, 2024. Hendry debuted in NXT as one of TNA’s representatives in a 25-man battle royal to determine the #1 contender for the NXT Championship.
After winning the ‘Moment of the Year’ award, the Scottish star sent in a video thanking the fans for voting for him and expressed his gratitude for all the love from the WWE fandom.
However, the moment that caught everyone’s attention was at the end of the video where he said, “I want to remind you that say his name and he appears means anywhere, anytime, any show.” This was followed by a short graphic promotion of the upcoming Monday Night Raw’s debut on Netflix.
This has started a storm of speculation about Hendry’s involvement in the debut show which is scheduled for January 6 at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood. There is a possibility that Hendry could stay with the developmental brand and make a one-time appearance on the debut show.
Joe Hendry’s most recent appearance in NXT was in September
The Scottish star was last seen in NXT during the WWE NXT No Mercy 2024 PLE where he battled the then-champion Ethan Page for the NXT Championship. The current NXT Champion Trick Williams was the special guest referee for the title clash.
Hendry’s first WWE appearance came during the November 10, 2014 episode of Monday Night Raw as a Russian Diplomat alongside Rusev (Miro) and Lana (CJ).
Hendry is currently signed with WWE’s partner promotion Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA). The Scottish star is the longest reigning TNA Digital Media Champion with a reign of 266 days. His reign ended when he suffered defeat against Kenny King at the Impact Wrestling Countdown To Slammiversary 2023.
