In a stunning turn of events, WWE has released Ridge Holland (real name Luke Menzies) from his contract after the British star publicly criticized the company on social media.

Holland, who is currently sidelined with multiple injuries, accused WWE of abandoning him during one of the toughest periods of his career, a move that has since escalated into a full-blown fallout.

The controversy began when Holland took to X (formerly Twitter) earlier this week to vent his frustrations. In a candid and emotional post, the 36-year-old claimed that WWE had “hung him out to dry” by choosing not to renew his contract while he was recovering from surgery.

Holland revealed he recently underwent a foot operation and might require neck fusion surgery, both sustained while working a WWE-sanctioned match in TNA.

“I feel like I’ve just been hung out to dry after getting injured working for another company on behalf of WWE,” Holland wrote. “Add to that my contract not being renewed knowing that I wouldn’t be able to wrestle for seven months. This is brutal.”

He went on to add that, while WWE is covering his surgery and rehab, “that’s the bare minimum after what we sacrifice for the company,” expressing financial concerns about supporting his family during recovery.

According to Fightful Select, WWE management was not pleased with Holland’s public remarks. Sources told the outlet that officials viewed his comments as a breach of contract, leading to the company’s decision to terminate him immediately rather than allowing his deal to expire later this month.

The timing adds further frustration to Holland’s situation, as he reportedly has at least seven months of recovery ahead. His release also underscores WWE’s long-debated handling of injured talent and the absence of a wrestlers’ union to protect performers in similar scenarios.

For Holland, this marks an abrupt and bitter end to a run that once saw him positioned as one of NXT’s most promising talents before transitioning to the main roster.
