Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill might have to relinquish their tag titles in the upcoming weeks
As many suspected, Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill’s reign as WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions appears to be coming to an end.
During the November 22nd episode of SmackDown, Cargill was seen lying on a car after being attacked backstage. Belair, who was in a match then, raced to the back, giving up her chance to become the first Women’s United States Champion.
Unfortunately, a follow-up report revealed that Jade Cargill suffered a real injury and will be out of action for at least three months. With this in mind and Cargill as one-half of the Women’s Tag Team Champions, the curse of the championships has unfortunately continued.
According to Sportskeeda’s Backstage Pass Q&A, WrestleVotes reports that the belts will be relinquished once more: “Again, [I’m] working on nailing down the details, but I’m hearing they’re gonna have to strip Bianca…yeah, these belts are cursed. I mean, this happens time and time again.”
What is the curse?
WWE Women’s tag team titles curse is something that has been talked about. But, why is it talked about, so, basically this curse sends one-half of the tag team champions to get injured or unable to perform somehow. Mostly the curse revolves around the superstars getting injured. For five instances we have seen superstars getting injured after winning the WWE Women’s tag team titles.
Cargill and Belair initially won the Women’s Tag Team Championships at Backlash, defeating The Kabuki Warriors in Asuka’s final match before being sidelined with injury. They would keep the gold until the Clash at the Castle in Scotland when they lost the championships to Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn. Cargill and Belair won the titles back at Bash in Berlin.
If the championships are vacated, it will be the third time that this has occurred. The first incident occurred in 2022 when Sasha Banks and Naomi walked out of a Raw taping and left their titles on the Talent Relations desk. One year later, Liv Morgan was forced to relinquish her championship after suffering a real shoulder injury. Morgan’s partner was Raquel Rodriguez then.
Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville’s reign appeared to be at risk after Deville sustained a ruptured ACL. However, Piper Niven stepped in as Green’s partner, allowing the reign to continue.
