WrestleMania XL Night 1 Key Matches
The Rock & Roman Reigns vs Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins
One of the most anticipated matches in WrestleMania history has been confirmed, and it’s packed with intriguing storylines. On one side, we have world champion Roman Reigns teaming up with his cousin, The Rock. Meanwhile, Cody Rhodes pairs up with Seth Rollins, his long-time rival from his latest WWE stint. Adding to the drama is the deep history between Reigns and Rollins, who began their main roster journey together as part of The Shield.
The outcome of the Night 1 main event holds significant implications for Night 2. If Rhodes and Rollins emerge victorious, The Bloodline will be barred from ringside during Reigns and Rhodes’s championship clash. However, should The Rock and Reigns secure the win, The Bloodline gains the freedom to intervene in Sunday’s main event at will, setting the stage for a thrilling showdown.
Rhea Ripley vs Becky Lynch [Women’s World Championship]
Over the past few months, Lynch has been grappling with confidence issues, often falling short in crucial matches. However, her fortunes took a turn when she emerged victorious in the Elimination Chamber, securing her shot at the title. Meanwhile, Ripley faced a formidable challenge from Nia Jax at the Chamber event but managed to clinch the win, triumphing in front of her home crowd.
Judgment Day (c) vs #DIY vs The New Day vs Awesome Truth vs A-Town Down vs New Catch Republic – Six Pack Tag Title Ladder Match [Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship]
The Judgement Day is gearing up for a stacked lineup at WrestleMania 40, as Raw general manager Adam Pearce and SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis revealed plans for a six-pack ladder match to determine the tag team champions.
Qualification for the match saw three teams from Raw and two from SmackDown earning their spots. #DIY, The New Day, and Awesome Truth secured their places by clinching victories on Raw, while A-Town Down (Austin Theory and Grayson Waller) and New Catch Republic (Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate) emerged as SmackDown’s representatives after triumphing in tournaments.
Gunther vs Sami Zayn [Intercontinental Championship]
Zayn has managed to break free from his recent string of losses, but he’s now facing a monumental challenge. After surviving a grueling six-superstar gauntlet on the March 11 episode of Raw, he’s earned himself a shot at Gunther’s intercontinental title.
However, Gunther, currently deep into a record-setting reign with the title, appears to be a formidable obstacle for anyone to overcome. The two will clash in a one-on-one showdown at WrestleMania, both coming off impressive performances at last year’s marquee event.
