John Cena appears for his final WrestleMania
In what was billed as John Cena’s final WrestleMania match, history was on the line and when the dust settled, John Cena stood tall, having just defeated Cody Rhodes to become the new Undisputed WWE Champion, and in doing so, surpassing Ric Flair’s record with an unprecedented 17th world title reign.
Cena entered to a haunting silence, the crowd lights off as he made his way to the ring in a black T-shirt, stoic and composed.
Then came Cody Rhodes, as elaborate as ever. Dirt bikes roared around the stage, his custom skull mask opening mechanically like something out of a dystopian epic. He embraced his wife, daughter, and mother at ringside, fully immersed in what could have been a career-defining night.
The opening lockups saw technical finesse from Rhodes and veteran trickery from John Cena. Cena, feeling the pressure, slowed the pace and began to frustrate the champion. He controlled the rhythm with methodical offense, diving axe handles, clotheslines, and a throwback tornado DDT, mixing classic Cena with a more sinister edge. At every turn, Cena showed flashes of his old self, but darker, more desperate.
Rhodes refused to go quietly. A Cody Cutter, Disaster Kick, and even a nod to his father with the Bionic Elbow lit up the match, but Cena had counters for almost everything, including a crushing Attitude Adjustment that nearly ended it. When Rhodes went for the kill, Cena threw him into the exposed turnbuckle twice and hit another AA.
Travis Scott helps John Cena beat Cody Rhodes
Travis Scott made a shocking appearance, siding with Cena to take out Rhodes. But Cody fought back, hitting a Cross Rhodes on the rapper before turning to face Cena, belt in hand. A brief moral standoff ended with Cena delivering a low blow and blasting Cody with the title belt.
