Joe Hendry arrived at WrestleMania, taking Randy Orton’s open challenge
The Viper returned to the grandest stage of them all for his 20th WrestleMania appearance, and Allegiant Stadium erupted, hitting a deafening 110 dBA as Randy Orton made his entrance in throwback tights reminiscent of his early “Legend Killer” days.
Orton, clearly fired up, grabbed a mic and declared that whoever dared walk through that curtain would get their WrestleMania moment courtesy of the three most dangerous letters in wrestling: R-K-O.
Then, “Say His Name and He Appears”, the unthinkable happened. In a jaw-dropping surprise, TNA World Champion Joe Hendry made his WWE debut, answering Orton’s open challenge and blowing the roof off with his signature swagger, theme song, and the confidence of a man who knew he belonged.
The bell rang and the electricity was palpable. Hendry nearly shocked the world early, rolling Orton up for a deep two-count that made the veteran smirk in respect. But the pleasantries ended quickly.
Orton retaliated with a stiff front kick, but Hendry fired back with a double throat thrust and a neckbreaker, following it up with a stomp-stomp-clap that had the crowd in sync. He went for a chokeslam, but the Viper resorted to his signature eye poke and snap scoop powerslam in response.
The crowd roared as Orton set up for his trademark hanging DDT off the apron—and nailed it. Sensing the end, he coiled and struck, but Hendry blocked the RKO! In a burst of strength, Hendry delivered a fallaway slam and kipped up with a flashy “Zoom Pose” for the camera. What happened next was—BOOM! RKO OUTTA NOWHERE.
Winner: Randy Orton via pinfall
After the match, in a rare show of appreciation, Orton gave Hendry a subtle nod of respect the classic “you’ve got it, kid” gesture. But this is The Viper, after all. As Hendry turned to leave, Orton struck again with a second RKO, reminding everyone that no matter the moment, no matter the hype, no one escapes The Apex Predator unscathed.
