Night 1 of WWE WrestleMania 42 had concluded with Cody Rhodes retaining over Randy Orton on Saturday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The same venue on Sunday then hosted Night 2 of the PLE, where six matches were scheduled, including four title bouts.
Brock Lesnar vs Oba Femi opened the show, while CM Punk put the World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Roman Reigns in the main event. Similar to Night 1, John Cena hosted the show and even engaged in a segment with Danhausen.

John Cena opens Night 2

John Cena recapped the historic Night 1 before hyping up fans for Night 2, noting that for the first time, Mania is live on ESPN, which means they have to start with something big. Cena then welcomes the fans, leading a massive pyro and a change in graphics on the displays near the entrance, followed by more pyros.
Brock Lesnar vs Oba Femi
The opening match of the evening saw Brock Lesnar battle Oba Femi in what became a passing of the torch moment as Femi took a tour to Suplex City, and an F5, but got right up and fought back with a chokeslam, followed by a fall from grace to defeat Lesnar.
After the loss, Brock sat up in the ring and removed his gloves as the fans watched in shock and witnessed a vulnerable moment for the Beast, who broke down in tears. Lesnar then removed his boots, signalling the end of an iconic career. Even Heyman was unable to hold back tears as he broke down crying, while fans erupted in “Thank you, Brock,” chants.

Penta retained the Intercontinental title in the ladder match featuring Je’Von Evans, Dragon Lee, JD McDonagh, Rusev and Rey Mysterio. The match delivered as expected, with high-flying and ladder-crushing moves. The match highlighted the talent the Raw roster has, with JD McDonagh, Dragon Lee and Je’Von Evans especially taking the spotlight.

- The ladder match marked Dragon Lee and Je’Von Evans’ debut at the ‘Grandest Stage.’
- Oddly enough, WWE chose to skip Rusev, Dragon, and JD McDonagh’s entrance, but once again had the time for commercials.
- The commentary did a great job putting over the talents in the match. Cole also mentioned that this was the first time Rey Mysterio and Dragon Lee had fought each other.
Sami Zayn (c) vs Trick Williams – United States Championship match
The third match of the show saw Trick Williams defeat Sami Zayn to become the new United States Champion, after a little assist from Lil Yachty, who was attacked earlier in the match by Sami, who didn’t shy away from showcasing heel tendencies throughout the match.

- Trick Williams captured his first WWE title on the main roster in his Mania debut.
“The Demon” Finn Balor vs Dominik Mysterio – Street Fight
‘The Demon’ Finn Balor returned for the first time in two years to battle Dominik Mysterio in a street fight, and despite his best efforts, Mysterio was unable to pin the Demon, who delivered a Coup de Grace through the table to pin Mysterio and register his second win at Mania.

- GM Adam Pearce informed Dominik Mysterio that his match with Balor will now be a Street Fight during the Countdown Show.
- For the first time in three years, since the 39th edition in 2023, Finn Balor brought back ‘The Demon’ persona at WM 42.
- The match marked the 7th Street Fight in WrestleMania history, and Finn & Dominik both participated in three Street Fights in their WWE career, per Michael Cole.

The co-main event of the evening saw Jade Cargill battle Rhea Ripley with the WWE Women’s title on the line. B-Fab and Michin arrived during the match to help Cargill, attacking Rhea. However, Iyo Sky rushed in to aid Rhea, who countered a Jaded attempt by Cargill to hit the Riptide and pin the reigning Champion to win.

- Iyo Sky got her own entrance when she arrived to aid Ripley and took out B-Fab and Michin.
- The win kicks off Rhea’s second WWE Women’s title reign and her fourth WWE World title reign.

Hey John Cena, have you met Danhausen?
After the co-main event, WrestleMania 42 host John Cena once again appeared to announce the official attendance number for Night 2 as 55,255. After the announcement, The Miz and Kit Wilson interrupted Cena, asking for their WrestleMania moment. Cena stepped aside to let the two have the spotlight.
However, Danhausen appeared with little Danhausens and faced off with the two. Wilson called the little Danhausens toxic and shoved one of them, which led to the other kicking him in the jewels as they swarmed Wilson out of the ring. Danhausen then low-blowed the Miz, before hitting the cursed five knuckle shuffle, before the tiny Danhausens kidnapped Miz.

- Cena stayed away from any physical contact during the segment, confirming once again that he’s retired for good.
- Even Cena couldn’t hold his laugh after the segment as he zoned back in to hype fans for the Main Event.

CM Punk (c) vs Roman Reigns – World Heavyweight Championship
In the main event of Night 2, CM Punk defended the World Heavyweight title against Roman Reigns. The Champion was busted open early in the match as Reigns handed a vicious beatdown. Punk fought back, even stealing a fan’s Ula Fala. What followed next was a submission exchange, with both men refusing to tap out of each other’s submission.
Punk retaliated for the earlier beatdown by an elbow through the announce desk and then followed it up with a GTS, but collapsed when going for the second one. Reigns followed up with a spear as Punk tried to fight back, he delivered another to pin Punk and capture the World title once again.

- This marked Roman Reigns’ record-setting 11th WrestleMania main event and his seventh consecutive one.
- A special video package aired as Punk walked out to Miseria Cantare by the American rock band AFI (his old Ring of Honor theme).
- CM Punk’s jacket paid tribute to several influential figures in his journey, featuring the names Larry, Bo Lueders, Kerwin Silfies, Jim Shank, Davey Coates, and Harley Race.
