The Unsanctioned match lived up to expectations!
Chaos erupted before the bell even rang at WrestleMania 42 as Jacob Fatu launched a suicide dive onto Drew McIntyre during his entrance, immediately setting the tone for a brutal, unsanctioned clash. With WWE declaring it would not be liable for what followed, both men wasted no time turning the arena into a battleground.
Fatu dominated early, sending McIntyre crashing into the barricade, ring post, and even the timekeeperâs area. He escalated the violence quickly, pulling out tables, chairs, and even a toolbox, signaling that this would be less about wrestling and more about survival.
McIntyre, still haunted by the âseventeen stitchesâ he suffered against CM Punk inside Hell in a Cell, initially retreated. But the hesitation didnât last long, as he fired back by slamming Fatu into steel scaffolding and launching him with a guillotine catapult, undoubtedly shifting momentum.
Weapons, brutality, and mind games take center stage
Catch Every Update, Anytime, Anywhere
The match turned increasingly savage once both men brought weapons into the ring. McIntyre grabbed a wrench and looked to dismantle Fatu, while Fatu countered with raw power, leveling him with clotheslines and a crushing senton splash.
Fatu paid tribute to Umaga with a menacing strut before delivering a pop-up Samoan Drop for a near fall. McIntyre responded with a flying Glasgow Kiss and wedged a steel chair in the corner, setting traps that reflected the anything-goes nature of the contest.
In one of the more bizarre yet memorable moments, McIntyre grabbed a phone from his brother and posted a WrestleMania tweet mid-match. He later used the same phone as a weapon, blending brutality with dark humor in a way only an unsanctioned match can allow.
Near falls, carnage, and a decisive final blow
As the match intensified, both men traded high-impact moves and weapon shots. McIntyre catapulted Fatu into the ring post and connected with an inverted German suplex, before following up with a somersault senton to the outside that left both men reeling.
McIntyre attempted to seal the victory with a Claymore Kick, counting down â3⌠2⌠1âŚ,â but Fatu ducked and countered brilliantly. He drove McIntyre headfirst into a wedged chair and followed with a âMighty Moonsault,â only for McIntyre to kick out at the last moment.
The brutality escalated further as McIntyre used a wrench to target Fatuâs knee and head, even digging it into his forehead with a chilling smile. He set up two chairs and delivered a falcon arrow onto them, but still couldnât keep Fatu down.
Fatu refused to stay beaten. After enduring shots from chairs, belts, and even the refereeâs belt, he rallied with a relentless assault of his own. Though he introduced a table, it initially backfired, adding another layer of unpredictability to the match.
In the closing moments, Drew McIntyre once again looked for the Claymore, but it failed to connect. That misstep proved costly. Fatu capitalized, placing McIntyre on the table and launching himself through the air, crashing down to drive him through it.
The impact was decisive. Fatu secured the pinfall victory, surviving one of the most violent matches of WrestleMania 42 and cementing his dominance in a war where anything truly went.
