WWE WrestleMania 42 delivered pure chaos in the Intercontinental Championship ladder match, as Penta defended against Je’Von Evans, JD McDonagh, Dragon Lee, Rusev, and Rey Mysterio. The turning point came when Penta and McDonagh found themselves atop a ladder. McDonagh attempted a high-risk suplex, but Penta countered in spectacular fashion, delivering a “Mexican Destroyer” onto the ladder in one of the most jaw-dropping moments of the night.
With the ring littered with bodies, Je’Von Evans was the first to recover. He climbed the ladder and nearly secured the title, only for Rusev to intervene and knock him off, leaving Evans hanging in mid-air.
Rusev looked poised to claim victory, but Evans responded with an unbelievable counter. Launching himself from a ladder outside the ring, he connected with a breathtaking flying cutter that wiped Rusev out and reignited the chaos.
In the final sequence, Penta returned to the ring and neutralized Evans with another “Mexican Destroyer.” With no one left to stop him, the champion climbed the ladder unchallenged.
