The two biggest women’s superstars faced each other for the WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 42!
Rhea Ripley reclaimed the spotlight at WrestleMania 42, defeating Jade Cargill in a physically intense showdown to become the new WWE Women’s Champion. In a clash of powerhouses, both competitors delivered a hard-hitting contest that lived up to its marquee billing.
The match opened with a classic collar-and-elbow exchange, quickly escalating into a test of strength. Cargill struck first with a shoulder block and bodyslam, asserting dominance, but Ripley responded with a ripcord superkick, facebuster, and a dropkick that sent the champion to the outside.
Back in the ring, Cargill regained control with a snap powerslam for a near fall. She continued to press the advantage, mixing strikes with a seated senton on the outside before launching Ripley into the barricade.
Power and resilience define brutal encounter
Cargill showcased her strength with a Blue Thunder Driver, but Ripley refused to stay down. The challenger rallied, fighting out of holds and trading punches and elbows from the mat to their feet in a gritty exchange.
Momentum shifted rapidly as both women exchanged heavy offense. Ripley connected with an enzuigiri and a spinebuster, while Cargill countered with a spinning spinebuster of her own, pushing Ripley to her limits.
The back-and-forth intensified with counters and near falls. Ripley escaped a double chickenwing attempt, countered a powerbomb into a Frankensteiner, and followed up with a Shining Wizard that nearly ended the match.
Chaos and interference lead to decisive finish
The contest took a chaotic turn when outside interference came into play. “Michin” Mia Yim appeared on the apron as Ripley attempted the Razor’s Edge, only for B-FAB to interrupt, creating a moment of distraction.
Cargill capitalized briefly, sending Ripley into the ring post and delivering a devastating One-Winged Angel-style move referred to as “Sandstorm”, but even that wasn’t enough to secure the victory, as Ripley kicked out.
With tensions rising, referee Danilo Anfibio attempted to restore order, but the situation escalated further. IYO SKY suddenly emerged, taking out Cargill’s allies and hitting an Asai moonsault that shifted the momentum entirely.
Seizing the opportunity, Ripley delivered a headbutt before setting up her finishing sequence. After countering Cargill’s attempt at Jaded, Ripley executed a perfectly timed Riptide.
The impact was decisive. Ripley secured the pinfall victory, ending Cargill’s reign and once again standing atop the division as WWE Women’s Champion in a match defined by strength, resilience, and timely intervention.
Winner: Rhea Ripley (Via Pinfall)
