Roman Reigns reclaimed the top prize at WWE WrestleMania 42, defeating CM Punk in a grueling main event to become the new World Heavyweight Champion. In a match fueled by pride, mind games, and sheer endurance, Reigns proved he still sits at the head of the table.
The bout began with tension-filled lockups and verbal jabs, quickly escalating into a physical battle. Reigns asserted early dominance, throwing Punk out of the ring and launching him onto the announcer’s table before sending him crashing beyond the barricade.

Moments later, Reigns called for the spear, only to be caught off guard by a running knee from Punk. The challenger spilled to the outside, where Punk followed with a dive and more taunting, refusing to back down from the psychological battle.
The action intensified as Punk attempted a top-rope attack onto Reigns on the announce table. Reigns countered, regained control, and unleashed two consecutive Superman Punches while Punk was tangled in the ropes, leaving the champion bloodied.
Reigns escalated further, striking Punk with steel steps before powerbombing him through the announcer’s table. Yet even after that devastation, Punk rallied, landing a GTS in the ring, only for Reigns to kick out in a dramatic near fall.
Chaos, counters and a decisive finish
The closing stretch became a war of attrition. Roman Reigns finally connected with a spear, but CM Punk refused to stay down. The champion even mocked Reigns by hitting a Superman Punch of his own and briefly donning the Ula Fala, adding insult to injury.
Both men exchanged submission attempts, counters, and heavy strikes, each refusing to give an inch. Punk resorted to desperation tactics, landing a low blow behind the referee’s back and following up with another GTS but still, Reigns survived.
Punk pushed further, driving Reigns through the announce table with a stunning elbow drop from the top rope. Back inside, he connected with consecutive GTS attempts, yet exhaustion prevented him from finishing the job.
The toll of the match became evident as both men struggled to stand. In that moment, Reigns found another gear. He rose first, delivering a crushing spear that left Punk vulnerable.
With the champion fading, Reigns summoned the strength for one final burst. He ran the ropes and delivered a second spear, sealing Punk’s fate and securing the pinfall victory.
