WWE Wrestlepalooza 2025 Highlights: Brock Lesnar pins John Cena after six F5s; Cody Rhodes' first title defense; CM Punk & AJ Lee win; Jey Uso sustains serious injury & more

The Stamford-based promotion has kicked off its first Premium Live Event on ESPN. The first-ever Wrestlepalooza is kicking off the ESPN era tonight. The event is being aired live from the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana

The name Wrestlepalooza was originally used for an ECW event series that ran from 1995 to 2000. Its most prominent edition was the 1998 pay-per-view, headlined by Shane Douglas defending the ECW World Heavyweight Championship against Al Snow.

Multiple big names, including John Cena, Brock Lesnar, AJ Lee, CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, Becky Lynch, and Seth Rollins, among others, are set to compete on the show. The show on September 20 is the exact same day as AEW All Out in Toronto and marked the first instance of a main roster PLE going head-to-head with AEW.

Iyo Sky vs Stephanie Vaquer – Women’s World title match (VACANT)

During the September 1 episode of Monday Night Raw, General Manager Adam Pearce addressed the future of the Women’s World title and announced that Iyo Sky and Stephanie Vaquer will battle for the vacant title at the upcoming PLE.

The former Champion Naomi vacated the title due to pregnancy, and now Sky and Vaquer are set to clash to capture the throne. Sky, the former Champion, is looking to regain the World title, while Vaquer is looking to capture her first main roster title.

John Cena vs Brock Lesnar

Brock Lesnar made his return on the September 5 episode of SmackDown in Chicago during John Cena’s US title match against the Champion Sami Zayn. Lesnar came out, taking down Sami and then attacking Cena, delivering two back-to-back F5 before leaving.

After the segment, Lesnar cut a promo calling out Cena for Wrestlepalooza, “Hey John, I’ll see you at Wrestlepalooza, b*tch!” This effectively confirmed their final clash, and the two stars will meet in the first match of the show, per Pat McAfee.

The Usos (Jimmy & Jey Uso) vs Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed – Tag Team match

To counter the unchecked dominance of Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, the legendary duo of Jey and Jimmy Uso (The Usos) have reunited to take on the Bron Brons this Saturday in a tag team match.

In the absence of Paul Heyman, Breakker and Reed have unleashed chaos on anyone standing in their way. With no ‘Oracle’ to rein them in, the Usos may face a tough challenge in Indiana.

AJ Lee & CM Punk vs Becky Lynch & Seth Rollins – Mixed tag team match

Women’s Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch joined the Vision faction to aid her husband, Seth Rollins, at Clash in Paris. With the interference, Rollins retained the World Heavyweight title, pinning CM Punk. Lynch went even further to humiliate Punk and slap him repeatedly.

However, Punk had some backup in the form of his wife and former Divas Champion AJ Lee, who repaid the favor and then forced Rollins and Lynch into accepting a mixed-tag team match in Indiana this Saturday. The two couples will now settle their feud inside the squared circle.

Cody Rhodes (c) vs Drew McIntyre – Undisputed WWE title match (main event)

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes was absent from WWE programming since the August 8 episode of SmackDown. However, he made his return on last week’s show to attack Drew McIntyre and save Randy Orton.

Rhodes flatlined McIntyre with the Cody Cutter and picked up the mic to announce the clash between the two for September 20. The title clash will headline the PLE as announced by GM Nick Adlis on the go-home show of SmackDown.
