East Bengal registers emphatic 12-0 victory over Rovers FC in AWCL 2026-27 Preliminary Stage.

East Bengal have registered their second consecutive victory in the 2026-27 AFC Women’s Champions League. The Moshal girls were unstoppable again and they have registered an emphatic 12-0 victory over Rovers FC at the  Likas Stadium, Kota Kinabalu on 20th August 2026.

They are now group toppers in Group A with (=16) goal difference and 6 points from two games, with host Sabah FA still to play their second match against Rajshahi Stars. Most importantly East Bengal have kept a clean sheet once again.

The East Bengal defence was solid today, and their goalkeeper Khambi Chanu was merely tested under the goalpost. They dominated throughout the match and gave no opportunity for Rovers FC to make any impact in the game.

They will play their final match of this stage against Sabah FA on August 23, 2026, which will eventually decide who will go into the next round of the AFC Champions League.

Khambi Chanu Sarangthem — 7/10

She was calm and composed under the goalpost. Her clean-sheet contribution deserves credit.But East Bengal dominated most of the game and didn’t allow any such attack from the Rovers FC, and Khambi Chanu maintainer her concentration and provided one genuine save during the 66th minute of the game.

Astam Oraon – 7/10

Astam Oraon maintained his positioning well and avoided major errors. She was solid at the back, and scored the second goal of the match in the 14th minute. It was a brilliant goal, and she had significantly influenced the game beyond her basic defensive duties.

Sarita Yumnam – 6.5/10

Sarita helped East Bengal maintain control from the right side. Managed her defensive responsibilities well, rarely allowing her Rovers markers time or space, and chose her moments to support the attacks carefully, along with her defensive duties.

Abena Anoma Opoku – 9/10

Abena Opoku along with captain Shilky Devi was composed at the backline and maintained the defensive shape really well throughout the match. Opoku through her defensive skills kept the Rovers strikers quiet throughout the game. Most importantly scored two goals in the match as well, in 64th and 70th minute of the game.

Adama Alhassan – 7/10

Adama Alhassan from Ghana was impressive on her second match in East Bengal outfit. She was calm and composed in the defence line and maintained the defensive shape really well throughout the game along with Opoku, Astam Oraon and others. And helped East Bengal keep Rovers’ attack quiet.

Ashalata Devi – 6.5/10

Ashalata Devi provided leadership and defensive stability to the backline. She was really controlling and leading the defence line today and didn’t allow any attack from the opponent to take shape.

Priyangka Devi Naorem – 9/10

Priyangka Devi Naorem was acting as the linking player between the midfield and the frontline of East Bengal throughout the game and maintained the fluidity in attack of the team in the match. Most importantly she scored a brace in the match, including the opening goal from outside the box in the 6th minute and one during 22nd minute of the match.

Anju Chanu – 7.5/10

Anju Chanu Kayenpaibam scored her goal in the East Bengal outfit in the 73rd minute of the game. She was solid and disciplined in the midfield, providing support to the attack line.

Shilky Devi Hemam – 8/10

Shilky Devi with her immense experience controlled the midfield really well for the Moshal Girls in the match against Rovers FC. The captain was leading from the front and maintained the ball possession in East Bengal’s favour throughout the game. She was one of the top performing players from East Bengal’s 12-0 win against Rovers as well. She scored one goal as well in the second half of the match.

Soumya Guguloth- 8/10

Soumya was brilliant throughout the game, she scored one goal at the dying moment of the game during the injury time of the second half and made it 12-0 for the Red and Gold Brigade. She was constantly creating pressure in the defence line of the Rovers team. Her counter attack tactics worked really well in the match.

Olivia Anokye – 9/10

Olivia Anokye proved to be one of the dangerous player in this match. In absence of Fazila Ikwaput again handled the pressure well and was leading the front line of East Bengal. The Ghanaian was arguably one of the standout performers again on her second match for East Bengal FC, scoring twice as East Bengal have registered an emphatic 12-0 victory over Rovers FC in the AWCL 2026-27 Preliminary Stage.

Substitutions

Sulanjana Raul – 7.5/10

Sulanjana Raul was brilliant in her attacking contributions after she came in as a substitute in the second half of the match and was involved in scored one goal in the 51st minute of the game.

Abigail Antwi – 7.5/10

The 23-year-old forward Abigail Antwi joins East Bengal this season from Setu FC, where she featured in the Indian Women’s League last season. She came as a substitute and had a immediate impact in the game. She played really well today, controlled the ball well, and was able to score one goal during the 49th minute of the game as well.

Sushmita Lepcha – 7/10

Sushmita came in as a substitute in the second half and she maintained the defensive structure with a solid cameo without any errors in the backline.

Rimpa Halder – N/R

Rimpa worked really hard throughout the game and provided attacking width and movement after coming in as a substitute in the second half but as such had no impact in the game.
