Olympians Shiva Thapa, Amit Panghal lead star-studded line-up for men’s National Boxing Championships

Six-time Asian Championships medalist Shiva Thapa (63.5kg) and 2019 World Championships silver medalist Amit Panghal (51kg) are among the prominent boxers set to compete at the 7th Elite Men’s National Boxing Championships, scheduled to take place in Shillong, Meghalaya from November 25 to December 1.

Assam’s Shiva, the gold medalist in the previous edition, aims to replicate his success, while Amit Panghal, representing Services, is also eyeing the top honors in this prestigious tournament.

Other notable contenders in the 7th edition include Tokyo Olympian Ashish Kumar (80kg), 2021 Asian Champion Sanjeet (92kg), 2021 Youth World Champion Sachin (57kg), Tokyo Olympic quarter-finalist Satish (92+kg), and 2022 CWG silver medalist Sagar (92kg), representing RSPB. Ashish will compete for Himachal Pradesh, while Sanjeet, Satish, and Sachin will showcase their skills for Services.

The tournament will witness the participation of over 350 boxers from 35 units, competing across 13 weight categories to secure medals.
