Borgohain is chasing her first Asian Games gold
India’s star boxer Lovlina Borgohain will look to turn silver into gold when she begins her Asian Games 2026 campaign in the women’s 75kg event in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on Monday, September 28.
The 28-year-old is a Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medallist and a former world champion. She won silver at Hangzhou 2023 and returned from Glasgow 2026 with another silver, after losing 4-1 to Australia’s Emma-Sue Greentree in the Commonwealth Games final.
She now has another chance to finish a major Games on top of the podium. Her medal would also mean a lot for India’s women.
No Indian woman boxer has won Asiad gold since MC Mary Kom took the 51kg title in 2014, and India’s boxers arrive after a record Commonwealth Games haul of seven golds and three silvers.
