The anime fans and gamers are pretty excited as Cyberpunk Edgerunners Season 2 has finally been announced and is now in production.
On July 4, 2025, at Anime Expo, CD Projekt Red finally announced this amazing project and we will see more about the Cyberpunk 2077 universe in Season 2.
What to expect from Cyberpunk Edgerunners Season 2?
Cyberpunk Edgerunners Season 2 is once again going to be a standalone 10-episode story of redemption and revenge, produced by Studio TRIGGER and CD Projekt Red for Netflix.
Unlike a direct sequel, the upcoming season 2 will introduce us to new characters and a new narrative set in Night City.
This is what the official Cyberpunk website has described as the tease for the upcoming season:
A raw chronicle of redemption and revenge. In a city that thrives in the spotlight of violence, one question remains: when the world is blinded by spectacle, what extremes do you have to go to make your story matter?
This season will be directed by Kai Ikarashi (SSSS.Gridman), with character designs by Kanno Ichigo (Promare), and writing by Masahiko Otsuka and Hugo Award winner Bartosz Sztybor.
Fans can expect more violence and chaotic nights with the new story. A new preview is expected to be released pretty soon. (Tomorrow)
Season 1 legacy
Season 1, set a year before Cyberpunk 2077, followed David Martinez and Lucy Kushinada through a prequel plot. Its success, with over 1 million daily viewers in its first week on Netflix in 2022, prompted in-game mentions of David in Cyberpunk 2077’s 2.0 update.
According to CD Projekt Red’s website, Season 2 will enrich Night City’s narrative without revisiting David’s arc, introducing new characters and telling undiscovered stories.
Many fans want a cameo from the Season 1 characters in the new sequel. Although not confirmed, there is a chance that we might see some cameos in Season 2.

No release date has been announced for now, but we can expect late 2026 based on the production timeline.

It will stream on Netflix, just like the first season.
Will David and Lucy return in Season 2?
David won’t be returning to Season 2 as this is a new standalone story with new characters. Same goes for Lucy, but there might be a small chance for a cameo.
