India’s Deepika Kumari has reached the women’s individual recurve semi-finals at the 2024 Archery World Cup Stage 1. Kumari was initially trailing 1-3 in the match. However, she made a brilliant comeback to defeat South Korea’s Jeon Hun-young in the quarterfinal match, with the final scoreline reading 6-4.

In the earlier rounds, she took down the likes of Vietnam’s Do Thi Anh Nguyet 6-0 in the Round of 64, Germany’s Katharina Bauer 7-3 in the Round of 32, and Italy’s Elisabetta Mijno 6-0 in the Round of 16.

The compound mixed team of Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Abhishek Verma have also secured a spot in the final at the Archery World Cup Stage 1 in Shanghai on Friday (April 26). The Indian duo defeated Mexico’s Andrea Becerra and Lot Maximo Mendez Ortiz 155–151 to secure a berth in the gold medal match.

Jyothi Surekha Vennam, who won three gold medals at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, is also in the semi-finals of the women’s individual and women’s team compound events. Vennam is still in contention to take three gold medals home from the Archery World Cup Stage 1.
