ATK in talks to sign Sony Norde for upcoming ISL season
The Haitian magician is a famous name in Indian football having previously plied his trade for Mohun Bagan.
Former Mohun Bagan talisman, Sony Norde is close to joining Indian Super League (ISL) side ATK, Khel Now understands. The Haitian winger had previously plied his trade for the Mariners, winning the I-League and Federation Cup under the tutelage of Sanjoy Sen. But, after suffering a severe injury, he left the club in the middle of the season earlier this year.
The supporters were heartbroken and even Norde couldn't control his tears at his farewell press conference. But, Khel Now understands that the 28-year-old is top on the wishlist of ATK and with assistant coach Sanjoy Sen mainly managing the transfers, we could see the Haitian magician once again in India, considering the bond he shares with Sen from the duo's time at Bagan.
But, things are not finalised yet as the Haitian needs to prove his fitness to the club and is currently undergoing rehabilitation in Argentina. The winger also understood to be keen on the move and will be coming to Kolkata in August. His rehabilitation is in full swing and he's keen to return to action as soon as possible.
Norde was very influential in Bagan's I-league and Federation Cup winning campaign. The winger has that Latin panache to his game and apart from his blistering pace and mazy runs down the flank, he is also a deadball specialist and an inspiring leader. His qualities make him an impact player for any team and that is exactly why new manager Steve Coppell and Sen want him at the club.

The Haitian is also no stranger to the ISL as he has already played in the showpiece league for Mumbai City back in 2016. But, if the deal goes through this will be another chapter in his career in Indian Football.
